MSNBC’s deleted tweet spins heads: ‘News’ network dragged for jaw-dropping one-liner

The official Twitter account for MSNBC raised eyebrows over the weekend after it tweeted then deleted a post that appeared to be an outright attack on conservatives.

Twitter users called out the account, which appeared to be the official blue-checked account for the network on the social media platform, after the initial posting on Saturday.

“Conservatives don’t mind affirmative action hires so long as the people hired fit their preferred demographic,” their account declared.

By Sunday, it was deleted and an updated tweet was posted, along with a follow-up that sought to explain that the initial tweet was missing the author attribution as well as a link.

“’Conservatives don’t mind affirmative action hires so long as the people hired fit their preferred demographic,’ Ja’han Jones writes for @thereidout Blog,” the liberal network tweeted.

“Editorial note: We removed a previous tweet that did not include a link to The ReidOut Blog article and author attribution. Both have been added here for further context,” another tweet explained.

But in the hours between the first tweet and the correction, Twitter users unloaded on the network after their initial shock.

“Someone forgot to switch back to their personal account,” Tablet Magazine’s Noah Blum wrote.

“Conservatives’ preferred demographic: Applicant best suited for the job, irrespective of identity,” Fox News personality Joey Jones reacted.

Political commentator Lauren Chen advised MSNBC to “reel in your interns.”

Plenty of others weighed in on what was originally seen as a highly partisan take by MSNBC.
