Though unwilling to let the Trump “bloodbath” hoax die, one MSNBC anchor appeared more than happy to cover his tracks after getting personally community noted by Elon Musk.
Thanks to ongoing efforts to disabuse Big Tech avenues of censorship and suppression on social media, corporate media gaslighting doesn’t quite pack the same propagandist punch it once did. As billionaire Musk had had a personal hand in that, so too did he step into the mix over the weekend to confront MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough over the latest effort to malign former President Donald Trump.
A remark about a coming “bloodbath” related to the auto industry if President Joe Biden won re-election had been painted as dangerous rhetoric from Trump in line with leftist views that the GOP leader was somehow a despotic tyrant.
Running with that, Scarborough shared a video from the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, with the caption, “Donald Trump’s America. And he is proud of it. Promised another ‘bloodbath’ if he loses again.”
The post prompted Musk to doubly criticize the co-host of “Morning Joe” for both misrepresenting Trump’s comments and for suggesting the breach of the U.S. Capitol had been exponentially more violent than it actually was.
“Jan 6 was not a ‘bloodbath’ by any definition and Trump was referring to job losses in the auto industry when he used that word. Your post is extremely misleading,” he wrote.
In the wake of the scathing reply, Scarborough deleted his post.

While not alone in drumming up a headline-driven hoax against the president, the MSNBC host did refuse to drop it Monday when the narrative had already had its legs cut out from under it.
Joined by journalist Jonathan Lemire, Scarborough raged over “…these idiots on Twitter, these idiots on cable news, these idiots on Sunday shows,” who had set the record straight on Trump’s remarks.
“It’s just bullsh*t. Let me say that at 6:15 a.m. It’s just bullsh*t,” he repeated. “[Trump] knew what he was doing, we’re not stupid, Americans aren’t stupid — he was talking about a bloodbath. Sometimes a bloodbath means a bloodbath and when he finishes by saying, ‘And that’s just going to be the least of it,’ seriously? These people may be stupid — we’re not.”
Morning Joe is melting down this morning.

Meanwhile, on Truth Social, the president also called out talking heads and their allies when he wrote Monday, “The Fake News Media, and their Democrat Partners in the destruction of our Nation, pretended to be shocked at my use of the word BLOODBATH, even though they fully understood that I was simply referring to imports allowed by Crooked Joe Biden, which are killing the automobile industry. The United Auto Workers, but not their leadership, fully understand what I mean. With the Electric Car Mandate being pushed by Biden, there soon won’t be any cars made in the USA — UNLESS I’M ELECTED PRESIDENT, IN WHICH CASE AUTO MANUFACTURING WILL THRIVE LIKE NEVER BEFORE!!! MAGA2024.”
