Musk has second thoughts about Three Musketeers meme with sworded Trump and Kanye

Tesla CEO Elon Musk seems to enjoy poking the proverbial bear, but the world’s richest man had second thoughts about a meme he posted that aligned him with former President Donald Trump and Kanye West.

In the spirit of the Three Musketeers, Musk shared a meme on Twitter featuring the three of them holding swords that represented Truth Social, Parler, and an “X,” which most interpreted as a reference to Musk’s SpaceX company.

Trump started Truth Social after being permanently banned from Twitter and other social media apps, and it was announced on Monday that West agreed to acquire Parler “to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves,” the move coming after he was locked out of his Twitter account and restricted on Instagram. Musk recently revived his $54 billion deal to acquire Twitter, his stated interest being to make the social media platform a haven for free speech.

Thus, the reference to the Three Musketeers?

“In retrospect, it was inevitable,” Musk captioned the meme in a now-deleted tweet:

Naturally, the media took a different angle here, zeroing in on recent remarks from West that some are interpreting as antisemitic — the rapper has a different take. Trump also made a comment about American Jews needing to “get their act together” before “it is too late!” The remark was in reference to Israel and the media pounced to liken it to an antisemitic trope.

So it’s likely that Musk had second thoughts about being dragged into that media-generated quagmire.

Which is not to say that the Tesla CEO was hiding from it — after all, that’s clearly not his style:
