Former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) chief Elon Musk went off on Steve Bannon after the former White House strategist called for the government to seize his rocket company amid an ugly public brawl with President Donald J. Trump.
The billionaire Tesla/SpaceX CEO’s frustration with Trump’s showcase “Big, Beautiful Bill” boiled over in the most spectacular way possible on Thursday when he melted down on X, firing off a series of nasty posts about the president in a spectacular immolation of the relationship between the two, including an accusation that Trump is included in the Epstein files, which have yet to be publicly released.
During his War Room podcast, the conservative commentator said that Trump should invoke the Defense Production Act to take over SpaceX after Musk’s threat to decommission the Dragon spacecraft used to shuttle astronauts to and from the International Space Station (ISS).

“The action that President Trump should be taking immediately, I think, is when he threatens to take one of the big programs out of Space X, President Trump tonight should sign an executive order calling for the Defense Production Act to be called in SpaceX and seize SpaceX tonight, before midnight,” Bannon said.
Bannon referred to the Korean War-era provision giving the president authority to ensure the national defense by requiring private companies to prioritize contracts to meet defense needs, although it doesn’t explicitly empower the chief executive to seize the companies.
Musk hammered Bannon in a series of blistering responses to Bannon’s call for the expropriation of SpaceX.
“Bannon is a communist retard,” he said in an early Friday morning post to X.

Musk’s volcanic rage-tweeting had podcaster Joe Rogan – who has interviewed the world’s richest man on several occasions – to suggest that it may be time for someone to confiscate his phone.
During an interview with FBI Director Kash Patel that came out on Friday, the podcasting king said that Musk’s Epstein accusation is “crazy” and suggested that posting all day on X could be detrimental to his mental well-being.
This is crazy.

Rogan says “someone should take his phone away” in reference to Elon, and Kash immediately checks out of the conversation.

“Someone should take his phone away,” Rogan said, adding. “Jesus Christ, that’s a crazy thing to say.”
“I mean, I understand he owns Twitter. I think it’s bad for your mental health. I think posting things public all day and arguing with people all day is bad for you,” he added.
Bannon also called for an investigation of Musk’s immigration status and said that the South African-born billionaire should be deported.
“They should initiate a formal investigation of his immigration status, because I am of the strong belief that he is an illegal alien, and he should be deported from the country immediately,” he said.
