In addition to leftist policies, a commonality among Squad members has been ethics investigations opened against them and spending hypocrisy. Now, Massachusetts Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D) shared an unfortunate circumstance with former President Barack Obama after a dead body was discovered at a property owned by her husband, Conan Harris, on Saturday.

According to the Boston Police Department, officers were dispatched to the location on Malta Street in the Mattapan neighborhood just before 2 p.m. “for a report to investigate a person.”

It was there, at the property listed for sale at $1.15 million, that officers found a deceased individual and have since revealed little else in what Sergeant Detective John Boyle called a “death investigation” in speaking with the Boston Globe.

The outlet further detailed that a walk-in report at the Boston Police Department’s Hyde Park station, in the same neighborhood where Pressley and Harris reside, said a person had been shot at the property, “and that the victim was still on scene.”

Saturday’s fatal incident was only the latest appearance of police at the property with a reported assessed value of $919,000. Speaking with the Globe, a neighbor identified as Cherill said the same address had been raided by the BPD two months earlier. What’s more, realtor Chloe Turner told the outlet that the property had the same tenants for “a while.”

A statement issued by Pressley’s spokesperson read, “The Congresswoman extends her deepest condolences to the impacted family.”

As for the lawmaker’s husband, it is known that he previously served more than a decade in prison for drug trafficking. Additionally, it was previously reported that DREAM Development, which Harris is said to be a partner and investor in, scored a roughly $250 million deal from Boston Mayor Michelle Wu for a 400-unit housing project.

The same year that Pressley became a congresswoman, her husband founded the consulting firm Conan Harris & Associates after previously working as a deputy director of public safety at Boston City Hall. Additionally, John Barros, once chief of economic development for Boston, is also listed as a DREAM Development investor.

According to the couple’s financial disclosures, five rental properties brought in between $145,000 and $350,000 in 2024.

Ahead of further details about the identity of the victim, relation to the property, and circumstances surrounding the death, reactions on social media sounded off about the latest person in the orbit of a Democratic politician to turn up dead while also wondering at the financial arrangement of Pressley and her husband.

“[O]wned by your husband? They don’t keep assets together?” posited one comment on X. “Sound like someone’s avoiding taxes or hiding money as well.”
