Nancy Pelosi’s daughter slams ‘Nerd Prom Week’ as ‘bigger threat to democracy than Elon Musk’

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s liberal daughter, Christine Pelosi appeared to be hit by a wave of common sense this past week when commenting on the run-up to the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, which she referred to as “NerdProm Week” being a “bigger threat to our democracy” than Elon Musk.

The remark coming as the Tesla CEO was in the process of acquiring Twitter in a hostile takeover bid driven at least in part by free speech concerns, as Musk views Twitter as America’s de facto town square. The purchase had much of the left up in arms, claiming this was a threat to democracy, comically claiming it could even affect elections — hello 2020!

Just days after the buyout, the Biden administration announced the Department of Homeland Security’s creation of a Disinformation Governance Board.

“A ‘NerdProm Week’ of corporate media feting the politicos they cover with celebrities and booze rather than a simple @whca awards dinner celebrating the first amendment is a bigger threat to our Democracy than Elon Musk buying Twitter,” the younger Pelosi tweeted, adding the hashtag: #TweetYourUnpopularOpinion.

One might surmise that Christine Pelosi felt free to bash the annual DC shindig because she knew mom was not going to be in attendance. Turns out, Speaker Pelosi and a number of top Democratic lawmakers were making a surprise visit to Ukraine’s war-torn capital of Kyiv.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr  Zelenskyy welcomed the unannounced visit from Pelosi and U.S. Reps. Jason Crow, D-Colo., Jim McGovern, D-Mass., Gregory Meeks, D-N.Y., and Adam Schiff, D-Calif.

“You are welcome,” Zelenskyy said when greeting the Congressional Delegation outside, surrounded by armed guards and the president’s press service.

As for the tweet from Christine Pelosi, social media users found it to be difficult to disagree with the sentiment expressed:

On the other hand, when it comes to threats some had a different take on what may be riskier, as seen here:
