For the first time this election cycle, former President Donald Trump is beating President Joe Biden in NBC News’ election polls — albeit by only two percentage points.
“[T]he poll finds Biden behind former President Donald Trump for the first time in a hypothetical general-election matchup, although the deficit is well within the poll’s margin of error for a contest that’s still more than 11 months away,” NBC News reported Sunday, citing a newly published poll.
Interestingly, the president’s loss of support (compared to previous NBC News polls) is most pronounced among Democrats, many of whom are angry at him for supporting Israel in its war against Hamas. Indeed, a stunning 70 percent of Democrat voters between the ages of 18 and 34 disapprove of how he’s handled the war.

“I do not support his support of Israel,” Democrat voter Meg Furey, 40, told NBC News.
“Failed promises, student loans, foreign policy in general,” Democrat voter Zico Schell, 23, added.
Speaking with NBC News, Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt of Hart Research Associates said it’s clear the president’s foreign policy decisions are ruining his brand.
“Joe Biden is at a uniquely low point in his presidency, and a significant part of this, especially within the Biden coalition, is due to how Americans are viewing his foreign policy actions. This poll is a stunner, and it’s stunning because of the impact the Israel-Hamas war is having on Biden,” Horwitt said.
It’s a horrific impact.
“In another low for the president, just 33% of all voters approve of Biden’s handling of foreign policy, which is down 8 points from September. That compares with 62% of voters, including 30% of Democrats, who say they disapprove of the president’s handling of foreign policy,” NBC News notes.
Here’s the thing: Foreign policy’s not just affecting Biden’s chances against Trump; it’s affecting his chances against anybody, including a mythical “generic” candidate.
According to NBC News host Steve Kornacki, Biden is losing to a “generic” Republican candidate 37 percent to a whopping 48 percent. However, Trump is also losing to a generic Democratic candidate, albeit by a smaller margin: 40 percent to 46 percent.

Responding to NBC News’ reporting, leftists predictably accused the network of pushing pro-MAGA propaganda.

Who are you polling, everyone that still has a landline? That’s not a great demographic cross section. The media is doing 2015-16 all over again. You learned nothing. This is why you’re unwatchable along w/the lousy hosts & letting RepubliCONs run uninterrupted with their lies.

These polls about Biden and his so called ” low
approval” ratings are a media distraction from the ” mega problems” Trump is facing in the Courts! Americans need to know, Biden is Not in charge of the Israeli – Hamas war. He is calling for a crease fire. Israel says No for now!— Clare Warnagiris (@CWarnagiris) November 19, 2023
The release of this poll comes only days after another poll — this one conducted by Marquette Law School — found Biden losing in the 2024 race to the top three presidential candidates.
The poll specifically found Trump beating Biden 52 percent to 48 percent, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis beating him 51 percent to 49 percent, and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley beating him 55 percent to 45 percent.
Regarding Trump, his four percentage point lead over Biden was a huge jump from what was recorded in July, when he was found to be tying the president 50 percent to 50 percent, according to Fox News.
Moreover, while the poll results showed Haley outperforming Trump overall, they also showed that he was reportedly the only one leading among independent voters. Conversely, Haley reportedly drew the highest support among Democrat voters.

Meanwhile, another set of polls conducted around the start of the month found Trump leading Biden in almost every single battleground state.
Conducted by Siena College on behalf of The New York Times, the polls showed Biden losing to Trump by three to 10 percentage points in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.
Only in one state — Wisconsin — did Biden beat Trump by two points. Other than that, the former president came out on top every time.
