New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been a vocal critic of President Joe Biden over the migrant crisis that has been plaguing his city, so much so that the question is being raised about whether his being targeted by the FBI is political retaliation.
Adams was publicly humiliated when the feds approached him on the street to confiscate his electronic devices this week, an encounter that was later reported by The New York Times, an outlet that is Hizzoner’s biggest critic, and the once venerable newspaper’s top competitor smells a rat.
“The agents approached the mayor after an event in Manhattan on Monday evening and asked his security detail to step away, a person with knowledge of the matter said. They climbed into his S.U.V. with him and, pursuant to a court-authorized warrant, took his devices, the person said,” The New York Times reported.

The suspicious incident led the New York Post Editorial Board to ask, “Are the feds targeting Eric Adams because he criticized Joe Biden?” in a Friday op-ed that notes the vindictiveness of the Democrat leader and his regime and whether the mayor’s being sucked into an investigation of one of this top fundraisers is payback for complaining about the authoritarian leader.
“Seizing Mayor Adams’ phones and tablet on the street in public is the latest sign the feds aren’t simply investigating him: They’re out to inflict maximum embarrassment in a political vendetta, presumably in retribution for the noise he’s made about President Biden’s disastrous border policies,” the Editorial Board wrote.
“The mayor is easy to find, 24/7/365: What reason to ambush him publicly event except to humiliate him?” The Post asks. “And why else make sure his No. 1 press enemy, The New York Times, gets the story first?”
Considering that the New York Times’ big scoop was based on the usual anonymous sources that have marked its coverage of the yearslong persecution of GOP frontrunner Donald J. Trump, the question is a fair one as to whether Adams, once a Biden ally, is being taken out over his lack of loyalty to “the Big Guy” who some would argue has acted more like a mob boss than a president during his time in office.

The seizing of the mayor’s phones and iPad come after the feds raided the home of Brianna Suggs in a probe over illegal foreign donations, with the New York Times reporting that among the items taken by the feds was a “manila folder labeled Eric Adams.” The timing of the raid was notable in that Adams was on the way to a meeting with Biden in Washington, D.C. which he was forced to cancel after the news broke.
“And sources told The Post that timing was also intentional; the feds denied it — but of course they would,” wrote the Post Editorial Board.
“To be clear: We have no idea whether the FBI will ever produce evidence that Adams did wrong, let alone whether he actually did,” the paper writes, noting that it “usually takes the feds years to catch on, usually to a major pattern of violations,” and the time that it has taken to investigate Biden’s sexual degenerate former crackhead son.
“Which suggests a full-on effort to find something to hang on Adams ASAP — making the investigation a political hit whether or not he’s guilty,” the Post noted.
The apparent investigation into Adams that has the potential to end his tenure at City Hall comes as the Biden regime has already weaponized the federal law enforcement apparatus to go after Trump, his associates, and ordinary Americans who support him and is a warning sign that even Democrats are fair game if they dare to step out of line.
“Weaponizing the FBI and Justice Department for political purposes is a major threat to democracy, no matter the victim. Congress needs to start asking tough questions about the Adams case,” the Post stated.
