California Governor Gavin Newsom was ripped to shreds on social media for being a flaming hypocrite after he called for the 25th Amendment to be invoked against President Donald J. Trump.
In a Thursday primetime speech to the nation on election integrity, the president unveiled declassified intelligence suggesting that communist China interfered in the 2020 election on behalf of Joe Biden, stressing the importance of passing the SAVE America Act before the midterms, which are rapidly approaching.
Democrats predictably went bonkers with Newsom, the likely 2028 Democrat frontrunner, posting a video to social media calling for the removal of the “mad king” from office using the provisions laid out in the 25th Amendment.
This is a 25th Amendment moment.
I just watched the ramblings of a mad king and what else can I say — the only thing missing was tin foil.
Donald Trump is trying to rig our elections and we have to stop him.
Show up and VOTE this November. pic.twitter.com/iAFPo9GIed

“The only thing missing tonight in Donald Trump’s speech was tinfoil,” the outgoing governor began. “This was a legitimate 25th Amendment moment. The ramblings of a mad king.”
“Don’t get me wrong, foreign interference in our elections, that’s a real thing,” Newsom continued. “Nothing about what you watched tonight though is real. It’s make-believe.”
“He wants to rig the election in 2026; he knows he’s going to lose. He needs to rig the election before one vote was cast,” he added. “That’s what that whole thing was about tonight. This is a serious and profound moment,” calling for Democrats to get out and vote in November.
But Newsom’s call for Trump to be yanked from power due to mental unfitness flies in the face of the outgoing governor’s silence during the four years that Biden was in office, a legitimate subject for removal under the 25th.
Newsom, who defended the obviously senile Biden as one of the “greatest presidents ever,” was cooked by X users, with the Republican National Committee (RNC) pointing out the double standard with the governor never uttering so much as a peep about Trump’s predecessor.
“You literally propped up a vegetable and lied to the American people about his cognitive decline for 4 years and never mentioned the 25th amendment once,” the RNC said on its official X account.

“Given Newsom’s defense to this day of President Biden, calling him one of the greatest presidents ever, there’s a saying around sitting this one out that applies here…,” said Fox News contributor Joe Concha, zinging Newsom.

More responses to the brazen hypocrisy of the ambitious governor:
@grok Did Gavin mention a 25th Amendment moment on any of the many actual ramblings that Biden had?
— Roger Burt (@skullz1218) July 17, 2026
After what we lived thru with Biden … No Democrat has any room to talk about the 25th Amendment. That is not a hill you want to die on … especially you Gavin.

Where were you when Joe Biden couldn’t form a complete sentence and repeatedly shit his pants?
— Steve Baines (@stevebainz) July 18, 2026
Oh, now that’s rich coming from one of the biggest supporters of Biden being “all there” when he clearly wasn’t.
Raging hypocrite.

The 25th Amendment was ratified in 1967, allowing the Cabinet to ensure that the country has a functional leader but has yet to be used against a sitting president.
