Nikki Haley offered President Donald Trump her unsolicited thoughts on his latest comments about Ukraine and the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky.
While the former Republican presidential candidate has seemed to remain relatively quiet in the days since her former rival was sworn into office, she emerged on social media this week to essentially accuse Trump of doing the bidding of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“These are classic Russian talking points. Exactly what Putin wants,” the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations wrote on X in response to an Axios report on Trump’s “smear” of Zelenskyy.

Earlier this week, Trump said Ukraine “never should have started” the war, and called Zelenskyy a “dictator” because the nation has had no elections since Russia invaded in 2022.
Zelenskyy, who was up for re-election in April 2024, instituted martial law after Russia invaded. Ukraine’s constitution prohibits elections while martial law remains in effect.
“Think of it, a modestly successful comedian, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, talked the United States of America into spending $350 Billion Dollars, to go into a War that couldn’t be won, that never had to start, but a War that he, without the U.S. and ‘TRUMP,’ will never be able to settle,” Trump wrote in a post Wednesday on Truth Social.
“He refuses to have Elections, is very low in Ukrainian Polls, and the only thing he was good at was playing Biden ‘like a fiddle,’” he wrote. “A Dictator without Elections, Zelenskyy better move fast or he is not going to have a Country left.”
“I love Ukraine, but Zelenskyy has done a terrible job, his Country is shattered, and MILLIONS have unnecessarily died – And so it continues…..” he concluded.
Zelensky fired back, saying that Trump is living in a Russian “disinformation space.”
Haley, who joined the Hudson Institute think tank following the election, has previously contended that “there is no reason Ukraine should not be part of NATO.”
Her social media post on Trump earned her a wave of backlash from X users – those who blasted her for criticizing the president and those who called her out for endorsing him.
Thank god you aren’t running things. Diplomacy doesn’t seem something you get
