‘No laughing in communism’: Conservatives dogpile author triggered by Stacey Abrams joke

It’s hard to be a comedian these days, and it’s even harder to make people laugh on Twitter. With everything being deemed offensive for one reason or another, any joke, no matter how innocuous, can end up triggering someone – even if it’s not the person the joke is aimed at.

Such was the situation in which “occasionally funny” conservative commentator Ashley St. Clair found herself on Thursday. St. Clair lobbed a chuckle-bomb at Stacey Abrams, who has been in headlines recently for her mind-numbingly, factually incorrect statement on fetal heartbeats.

“FACT: An unborn baby has a healthier heart rate than Stacey Abrams after a buffet,” she ribbed, much to the displeasure of Twitter’s terminally-online sect of users.

Michael Marshal Smith, a blue check author, thought what St. Clair wrote wasn’t funny. In fact, he thought it was kinda mean, and decided to paint all conservatives who have ever told a joke or cracked wise with the same broad brush.

“Remember that kid who ran around the school yard pulling people’s hair? Or the bully that took your school work and threw it in the river and laughed? That’s the heart of conservative ‘comedy’. Attention-seeking + using cruelty to laboriously try to assert dominance,” he whined.

A follow-up tweet further complained about how many people, specifically men for some reason, were disagreeing with him.

It didn’t take long for conservatives to turn their attention from Stacey Abrams to Smith:
