Former President Donald J. Trump took notice of his successor’s seating arrangement while attending Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral on Monday, and like many others saw it as a sign of disrespect.
President Biden and first lady Jill Biden were late in arriving at Westminster Abbey after getting held up in London traffic and had to wait to take their seat. The most powerful man in the world, the leader of the free world, as the U.S. president is widely seen, ended up sitting 14 rows deep at the service, behind other world leaders — sitting ahead of Biden included the president of Poland, the emperor and empress of Japan, other European royals, and the King of Jordan.
“In Real Estate, like in Politics and in Life, LOCATION IS EVERYTHING!!!” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform, in what was a second bite of the apple after sharing a photo earlier pointing out just were the Bidens were seated.
He had previously posted: “This is what’s happened to America in just two short years. No respect! However, a good time for our President to get to know the leaders of certain Third World countries. If I were president, they wouldn’t have sat me back there—and our Country would be much different than it is right now!”
There’s little doubt that Trump would have created a stir over being seated in what amounts to nosebleed seats. As president, he took heat from the anti-Trump media in 2017 when he appeared to move aside the prime minister of Montenegro ahead of a photo-op while attending a NATO summit in Brussels, Belgium.
While critics faulted his ego, it was more about putting the United States front and center — which is not exactly a priority for many on the left, who oppose Trump’s “America First” agenda and would rather see the U.S. take on a subservient role in the world. Either way, while Trump is without a doubt an alpha male it’s not likely that Joe Biden will ever bear that cross.
