If you had “unidentified objects invade North America” on your 2023 Bingo card, you’re already well on your way to a win.
On Saturday afternoon, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) declared it had “positively identified” yet another “high-altitude airborne object” drifting over northern Canada.
“Military aircraft are currently operating from Alaska and Canada in support of North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) activities,” the shocking statement read. “NORAD confirms that we have positively identified a high-altitude airborne object over Northern Canada.”
“While we cannot discuss specifics related to these activities at this time,” the statement continued, “please note that NORAD conducts sustained, dispersed operations in the defense of North America through one or all three NORAD regions.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was quick to act.
Shortly after the NORAD statement made the Twitter rounds, Trudeau tweeted that he had ordered the object shot down with the help of a U.S. F-22 jet.
“I ordered the take down of an unidentified object that violated Canadian airspace,” he announced. “@NORADCommand shot down the object over the Yukon. Canadian and U.S. aircraft were scrambled, and a U.S. F-22 successfully fired at the object.”
“I spoke with President Biden this afternoon,” Trudeau revealed. “Canadian Forces will now recover and analyze the wreckage of the object. Thank you to NORAD for keeping the watch over North America.”

The object, flying at 40,000 feet, was cylindrical in shape and roughly the size of a small car, the Daily Wire reports.
NORAD and the U.S. Northern Command released a joint statement on Saturday night, but did not discuss the object’s “purpose” or “origin.”
“Recovery operations continue today near Deadhorse, Alaska. U.S. Northern Command’s Alaska Command and the Alaska National Guard, in close coordination with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and local law enforcement, are conducting search and recovery activities,” the statement read. “Arctic weather conditions, including wind chill, snow, and limited daylight, are a factor in this operation, and personnel will adjust recovery operations to maintain safety.”
“We have no further details at this time about the object, including its capabilities, purpose, or origin,” it said.

The White House released a statement, detailing President Biden’s call with Prime Minister Trudeau.
“The object was closely tracked and monitored by North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) over the last 24 hours and the President has been continually briefed by his national security team since the object was detected,” the White House said. “Out of an abundance of caution and at the recommendation of their militaries, President Biden and Prime Minister Trudeau authorized it to be taken down. President Biden authorized US fighter aircraft assigned to NORAD to conduct the operation and a US F-22 shot down the object in Canadian territory in close coordination with Canadian authorities.”
According to the statement, Biden and Trudeau discussed “the importance of recovering the object in order to determine more details on its purpose or origin.”
In a separate statement from the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), Pentagon Press Secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said, “NORAD detected the object over Alaska late Friday evening.”
“Two F-22 aircraft from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska monitored the object over U.S. airspace with the assistance of Alaska Air National Guard refueling aircraft, tracking it closely and taking time to characterize the nature of the object,” Ryder continued. “Monitoring continued today as the object crossed into Canadian airspace, with Canadian CF-18 and CP-140 aircraft joining the formation to further assess the object.”
“A U.S. F-22 shot down the object in Canadian territory using an AIM 9X missile following close coordination between U.S. and Canadian authorities, to include a call today between Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III and Minister of Defence Anita Anand,” he said.
And don’t worry about the wreckage. The FBI is on it, and we all know how well they handle recovered things that could pose a threat to our national security.
“As Canadian authorities conduct recovery operations to help our countries learn more about the object, the Federal Bureau of Investigation will be working closely with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police,” Ryder stated.
The takedown of the object over Canada marks the third mysterious object American jets have shot down in recent days.
As BizPac Review reported, the U.S. military shot down a Chinese “spy” balloon off the coast of South Carolina earlier this month after it had floated for days across American military installations.

And on Friday, another object was downed over U.S. territorial waters after it crossed undetected into Alaska.

It’s all a little much for some Twitter users.
