An ongoing flood of illegal aliens into her state has New York Governor Kathy Hochul admitting that in hindsight, wide open borders may be a bad idea now that the new arrivals have taken up residence in her backyard.
When it comes to open borders and unfettered illegal immigration, the virtue signaling of Democrat politicians has collided with the hard reality of the costs of feeding and housing tens of thousands of mostly indigent foreigners, and now even a hard-core left-winger like Hochul is starting to sound like a Republican.
The governor appeared on CBS’s “Face The Nation” on Sunday morning where she discussed the historic flooding in New York City from the remnants of Tropical Storm Ophelia last week with host Margaret Brennan who brought up the migrant problem, and Hochul was singing a much different tune than she previously had.

“Well, shame on Speaker McCarthy and the Republicans in Congress, including the nine from New York state who are complaining like crazy about the migrants, but refuse to work with President Biden and come up with a sensible border strategy. It can be done. This can be done in a bipartisan way, comprehensive immigration reform,,,,” she said, dishonestly pointing the finger at House Republicans who have been demanding action from the Biden regime to no avail.
“What specifically do you want?” Brennan asked.
“Well, we want them to have a limit on who can come across the border,” Hochul replied. “It is too open right now. People coming from all over the world are finding their way through, simply saying they need asylum, and the majority of them seem to be ending up in the streets of New York and that is a real problem for New York City.”
“One hundred and twenty-five thousand newly arrived individuals, and we are being taxed. We are always so proud of the fact that New York has the Statue of Liberty in our harbor. We are one of the most diverse places on earth because of our welcoming nature and our- it’s in our DNA to welcome immigrants,” she added. “But there has to be some limits in place.”
Last week, it was reported that New York City will begin distributing flyers to illegal migrants in shelters and at the border to discourage them from settling in Gotham.
City Hall, New York City:
New flyers revealed today at an Asylum Seeker Crisis Briefing that Deputy Mayor Anne Williams-Isom says NYC will start passing out to migrants at the border:

The New York migrant invasion is also becoming a political problem for Democrats whose stranglehold on local government could be imperiled by the unceasing influx of illegals and, in some instances, protests have broken out including a busload of migrants that were blocked from a converted shelter in Staten Island last month.
None other than former President Bill Clinton warned that his party could be made to pay and called for changes to New York City’s liberal “Right to Shelter” law during an appearance on “The Cats Roundtable” on 77 WABC radio.
“Gov. [Kathy] Hochul thinks it should be modified, and it probably should under the circumstances,” Slick Willie told host John Catsimatidis. “It’s broken. We need to fix it… It doesn’t make any sense.”
