NYC Mayor Adams threatens to impound buses, blames TX governor as migrants keep rolling in

New York City Mayor Eric Adams lashed out at Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s busing of illegal aliens north to the Democrat-controlled sanctuary city, and the buses transporting the new arrivals could soon be impounded by the city.

On Wednesday, Hizzoner railed against the Lone Star State Republican’s massively successful migrant relocation effort that has forced deep budget cuts as Gotham struggles to feed and house the hordes of indigent foreigners amid rising anger and frustration from City Hall.

Blasting Abbott’s “cruel and inhumane politics,” the embattled Democrat unveiled an executive order that requires bus companies to provide a 32-hour notice before their arrival, a move that could come with stiff penalties for noncompliance.

“We’ve begun to see another surge of migrants arriving. We expect this to intensify over the coming days as a result of @GovAbbott’s cruel and inhumane politics,” Adams posted to X. “Just last week, 14 chartered buses with migrants arrived in one night, with hundreds more arriving every day.”

Adams has also dialed up the volume in begging for help from Washington after President Joe Biden effectively ghosted him, joining up with the mayors of two other sanctuary cities where virtue signaling about open borders has collided head-on with reality.

“Today, I also signed an executive order requiring private charter companies to give us at least 32 hours notice before arrival so we can coordinate a safe, responsible arrival for our brothers and sisters seeking asylum,” he said.

In addition to requiring the advance notice, Adams’ executive order also limits the hours that buses can arrive to between 8:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. on weekdays from Monday to Friday and to drop off their human cargo

“If buses do not comply, it would result in a class B misdemeanor, with penalties including three months’ imprisonment and up to a $500 fine for individuals and $2,000 for corporations. Buses could also be impounded by the NYPD,” according to Fox News.

“We need federal and state help to resettle and support the remaining 68,000 migrants currently in our care and the thousands of individuals who continue to arrive every single week,” Adams added in another X post. “And we need Governor Abbott to stop playing games with innocent lives.”

Abbott’s office clapped back with a statement ripping Adams for his hypocrisy.

“The hypocrisy of Mayor Adams is astounding. Mayor Adams had touted New York City’s self-declared sanctuary city status, then sent his own buses of migrants out to small towns in New York. Texas has only transported about 32,000 migrants to New York City, while President Biden has been flying planeloads of migrants all around the country and oftentimes in the cover of night,” the governor’s communications director Renae Eze said.

“With millions of residents, New York is only dealing with a fraction of what our small border communities deal with on a day-to-day basis,” she added. “Until President Biden steps up and does his job to secure the border, Texas will continue busing migrants to sanctuary cities to help our local partners respond to this Biden-made crisis.”

“We really are saying to bus operators and companies, do not participate in Governor Abbott’s actions,” Adams said. “We want them to take the appropriate actions of being responsible by taking those actions during the hours we are laying out. Those asylum seekers on the buses, they will not be penalized any way at all. This does not impact those passengers on the buses.”
