“Common Sense” author Thomas Paine once wrote: “Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one; for when we suffer, or are exposed to the same miseries by a government, which we might expect in a country without government, our calamity is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer.”
Former President Barack Obama appears to have a different take than one of the Founding Fathers who shaped the American Revolution.
During his Democratic National Convention speech on Tuesday night, he accused Republicans of attempting to fearmonger by telling people that “government is inherently corrupt.” He went on to bizarrely claim the GOP believes “sacrifice and generosity are for suckers” and other strange things.

If the institution of government is not inherently corrupt, what would the need for checks and balances be?
X users were quick to smack the former president with both reality and fact checks:
There goes Barry gaslighting his sheeple again, accusing the conservatives with everything they are actually doing, alot of it started by him. He is a dangerous, evil man. The anti-christ is somewhere taking notes on public speaking from satan’s little helper.

That’s because the government is corrupt. The less power government has is better for people. This is why we have the Bill of Rights.

Fear of government corruption? That’s not cynicism, it’s a love for freedom with a side of historical evidence!

Govt is inherently corrupt, it’s human nature. When individuals are tasked with deciding for others, they can and will make choices that best benefit their friends and selves. its why we LIMIT govt, keep it weak to protect every individual‘s sovereignty.
