Obama sparks avalanche of backlash over sales pitch that government is not ‘inherently corrupt’

“Common Sense” author Thomas Paine once wrote: “Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one; for when we suffer, or are exposed to the same miseries by a government, which we might expect in a country without government, our calamity is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer.”

Former President Barack Obama appears to have a different take than one of the Founding Fathers who shaped the American Revolution.

During his Democratic National Convention speech on Tuesday night, he accused Republicans of attempting to fearmonger by telling people that “government is inherently corrupt.” He went on to bizarrely claim the GOP believes “sacrifice and generosity are for suckers” and other strange things.
