A former Washington State Patrol trooper who earned widespread praise in the fall for refusing to submit to Washington Gov. Jay Islee’s vaccine mandate has died from the coronavirus, and in response, leftist COVID zealots are now “dancing on his grave.”

Then-State Patrol Trooper Robert LaMay, 51, became famous in October when he got fired for refusing to submit to the governor’s mandate.

Instead of going off quietly into the night, he achieved legendary status by using his police radio to tell the governor to kiss his rear end as he signed off for the last time.

“This is my final sign-off. After 22 years of serving the citizens of the state of Washington, I’m being asked to leave because I am dirty. Numerous fatalities, injuries, I’ve worked sick, I’ve played sick. We’ve buried lots of friends over these years. I’d like to thank you guys,” he said.

“I’d like to thank the citizens of Yakima County, as well as my fellow officers within the valley. Without you guys, I wouldn’t have been very successful. And you kept me safe and got me home to my family every night. Thank you for that. I wish I could say more, but this is it, so State 10-34, this is the last time you’ll hear me in a state patrol car. And Jay Inslee can kiss my ass.”

LaMay was one of countless law enforcement officers and troopers nationwide who lost their jobs for choosing to stand up to their local bureaucrats’ vaccine mandates.

At the time of his firing, LaMay appeared on Rantz’ eponymously named radio show to tell his side of the story:

Months later, the 22-year State Patrol veteran is now dead from COVID.

Late Friday, Charlie Harger of local station KIRO confirmed that “Trooper LaMay died after a battle with Covid.” Included with Harger’s report was an emotional quote from Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste.

“I am deeply saddened over the news that our former friend and colleague Trooper Robert LaMay has passed away. This agency’s prayers and remembrances are with his family and loved ones,” the quote read.

“Rob served honorably for over two decades, and we were disappointed to see him leave the agency this past October. His service to this state and agency will be long remembered and appreciated.”

Harger’s report was retweeted by Rantz, who wrote, “Rest In Peace, Robert.”

Sadly, though not unexpectedly, leftist COVID zealots refuse to allow him to rest in peace. Ever since Harger’s report emerged, they’ve been heckling Rantz — who’s vaccinated himself but strongly believes in bodily autonomy and freedom of choice — for having given LaMay a public platform to air his views on the COVID vaccine.

Some have also been laughing in glee.

Here’s just a small sample of the hate:

To hear the zealots tell it, Rantz is personally responsible for the 51-year-old trooper’s death from a highly contagious virus that, in addition to killing millions of other people worldwide, has also killed a number of vaccinated people as well.

“While federal data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is incomplete, only accounting for a subset of states, [our] analysis found that between April and November, more than 16,700 vaccinated people had died — the vast majority since the start of the delta variant’s surge, earlier this summer,” ABC News reported last month.

To be clear, the coronavirus vaccine does drastically reduce one’s risk of hospitalization and death. However, it doesn’t entirely negate it. That is a fact. And indeed, just a couple of months prior, even a young, 36-year-old flight attendant who’d been vaccinated died from the virus:

Responding to the heartless bashing, Rantz eventually turned off comments for his October tweet “because the people who pretend they want people vaccinated to preserve life… are the ones who are dancing on his grave.”

This tends to be how zealots on the left always function, no matter the issue. One must either abide by their demands or be treated like trash. But in fairness, at least the left doesn’t discriminate in their hate for dissenters.
