‘Only one reason they want it hidden’: LGBT groups warn against releasing Nashville shooter’s manifesto

LGBT groups on both the left and the right are calling for Nashville mass shooter Audrey Hale’s manifesto to not be publicly released ostensibly because doing so may inspire other mass shooters.

“It should not be published. The focus should be on how this was able to happen in the first place. There should not be such easy access to deadly weaponry,” Jordan Budd, the executive director of Children of Lesbians and Gays Everywhere (COLAGE) told Newsweek.

“The contents don’t change the outcome of the tragedy. Regardless of the shooter’s intentions, the real issue here is the ease of access to deadly weapons in Tennessee and elsewhere. All children, no matter who their parents are or how they identify, should feel safe and supported at school. That includes a world free from gun violence,” he added.

Charles Moran, the national president of Log Cabin Republicans, a right-wing LGBT group, appeared to agree with some of what Budd said, telling Newsweek that the release of Hale’s manifesto could trigger “serious consequences.”

“While it would certainly give insight into the motivations of this deeply troubled individual that could help shed light into root causes, we know from tragedies like this that additional glorification of the shooter could inspire others to take similar violent acts for attention,” he said.

Laura McGinnis, a spokesperson for PFLAG, reportedly the largest LGBT group in the country, also concurred, warning that releasing the manifesto could “increase the risk of contagion,” as reported by Newsweek.

The public responded to Newsweek’s report by slamming the activists and claiming that their true purpose is to hide that Hale’s mass shooting at a Christian school was perhaps motivated by radical transgender ideology.

Critics also pondered the meaning of Moran’s “serious consequences.”

The backlash has been swift because the shooting in Nashville “comes amid a surge in #trans & far-left extremists making threats against Tennessee for banning the medical transitioning of minors,” according to journalist Andy Ngo.

The shooting also comes only days ahead of a “Trans Day of Vengeance” scheduled to occur outside the Supreme Court on Saturday.

The event is being hosted by the Trans Radical Activist Network (TRAN). The group describes itself as “a network of unapologetic activists fighting for Queer Liberation.”

“TRAN’s website was still promoting the event as of Tuesday, one day after a school shooting in Nashville,” according to Fox News.

And then there’s this: Hours after the Monday shooting, Democrat Gov. Katie Hobbs’ press secretary posted a tweet invoking violence against those critical of transgender ideology.

The violent tweet consisted of a GIF of a character from the 1980 film “Gloria” brandishing two handguns.

Above the GIF read this horrifying caption: “Us when we see transphobes.”

This incessant thirst for violence has critics of the LGBT movement convinced that the movement has a serious problem on its hands — one that needs to be addressed. The mass shooting by Hale is, of course, the starkest example of this phenomenon.

As previously reported, Hale was a biological woman who identified as a “transgender male.” The deep suspicion by critics of the LGBT movement is that her manifesto reads no different than the typical, violence-tinged rhetoric of the wider movement.

As it stands, nobody will be reading the manifesto anytime soon, as local authorities have decided to place its release on hold during an “open investigation.”

Critics have slammed local authorities for this decision, arguing that the “open investigation” isn’t a valid excuse for not releasing the manifesto.
