Parking-space fight at youth football game ends with 12-year-old girl dead in crossfire

A young girl is dead and three adults are wounded after a senseless shooting at Leon Day Park in Baltimore, Maryland.

The victims, who were attending a youth football event nearby, were reportedly caught in the crossfire of two men who opened fire following a dispute at the park. Officers responded to calls of gunshots, where they found a 12-year-old girl among those suffering wounds. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries after being transported to the hospital.

Other victims include a 25-year-old woman and two men, one 28 years old and the other 23 years old, all of whom survived and are in stable condition.

“Two grown men got into an argument and now a 12-year-old is gone,” said Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott during a press conference on the shocking incident. “What happened out here today is one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever seen in my life.”

“We’re never gonna see her full potential,” he added. “Her family’s gonna be hurting for this for the rest of their life. Her classmates are going to be hurting, her community’s going to be hurting.”

Police are asking the public for any information related to the suspects. Those who can help are encouraged to contact homicide detectives at 410-396-2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP, where they can make an anonymous tip.
