Walz and Klobuchar condemn ‘gun violence’ after football-game shooting — critics point to alleged Somali gang involvement

Reflexive rants against “gun violence” after a homecoming incident found Minnesota’s leftist leaders leaving out key facts about the perpetrators they’ve facilitated and supported.

Friday Night in Eden Prairie, gunfire erupted outside a high school football game, leaving two shot as the area was evacuated. Amid fraud investigations and knee-jerk political correctness, both Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) and his would-be successor, Democratic gubernatorial nominee Sen. Amy Klobuchar, conveniently left out that it was their own policies that left parents having to “worry about their kids’ safety” as Somali gangs were allegedly responsible.

Shortly after the incident, Walz took to X to state, “State officials are assisting local authorities to find those responsible after a shooting outside the Eden Prairie football game. No homecoming, in any community, should be disrupted by gun violence. Minnesotans are keeping students and families in our thoughts tonight.”

Likewise, Klobuchar asserted, “Violence like the shooting last night in Eden Prairie is completely unacceptable. Parents shouldn’t have to worry about their kids’ safety when they go to a homecoming game and as a former prosecutor, I know how critical it is to support law enforcement and take action to protect Minnesotans from violence.”

Within minutes of the governor’s post, Townhall columnist and Minnesotan Dustin Grage wrote, “Nobody ever flinches when Somali gangs open fire outside an event in Minneapolis. Their voters have accepted decline. But this time, it happened outside a game between two of the wealthiest suburban cities in the state, and they’re actually pissed.”

He went on to share a statement from the Eden Prairie Police Department on Saturday that both injured parties were Somali teens and the investigation suggested that “the shooting was gang-related.”

Similar reporting from Alpha News was praised by House Majority Whip Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) as he slammed all the Democrats in his state’s leadership, stating on X, “Of course the Eden Prairie football game was another Somali gang crime. Will anyone in the Minnesota media — other than @AlphaNews — tell Minnesotans the truth? Or are they too concerned about being politically correct? It’s not racist to call out Somali gang violence.”

“Somali gangs are terrorizing our communities and putting our children’s lives at risk,” continued the congressman. “@FBIDirectorKash is on it and understands the threat, but Minnesota’s local and state leaders continue to do NOTHING. It’s about damn time Walz, [Lt. Gov. Peggy] Flanagan, [Attorney General Keith] Ellison, and their local DFL lackeys get off their backsides and do something.”

Adding insult to injury, Grage highlighted how Klobuchar, who earmarked $1 million in funds for a Somali non-profit currently being investigated for fraud, celebrated Somalis over the weekend, speaking their language during an event where she waved an upside-down American flag.

Among those slamming the globalist, defund the police Democrats responsible for facilitating foreign gangs in getting a foothold in American communities, Speaker of the Minnesota House Lisa Demuth, the Republican nominee for governor, wrote, “On Thursday, I released my public safety plan to make Minnesota safer. That plan includes boosting funding to tackle gang-related violence by increasing funding for Violent Crime Enforcement Teams.”

“Our communities must be safe from violence and lawlessness, including the Somali gang activity we have seen in recent weeks in a number of communities. It will take a serious, broad-based approach. It will take new leadership at the top,” she stated. “Amy Klobuchar doesn’t have a plan because she’s more of the same. She’s a former prosecutor that stands with defund-the-police Democrats.”
