Pence blames Trump, GOP opponents for Hamas terrorist attack on Israeli civilians

Former Vice President Mike Pence used the massacre of Israeli civilians by Hamas terrorists as an opportunity to take a shot at his former boss and other “America First” GOP presidential hopefuls.

The ex-veep appeared on Sunday morning’s edition of CNN’s “State of the Union” where he discussed the attack that resulted in the deaths of over 600 people in an act of war on the Jewish nation that drew outrage from the entire civilized world.

To his credit, Pence placed much of the blame on the disastrous foreign policy of President Joe Biden whose surrender of Afghanistan to the Taliban was a signal of American weakness that the world’s evildoers would inevitably exploit, but then pointed his finger directly at former President Donald J. Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and biotech entrepreneur Vivike Ramaswamy who are vying with him for the nomination.

“But I also believe this is what happens when we have leading voices like Donald Trump, Vivek Ramaswamy and Ron DeSantis signaling retreat from America’s role as leader of the free world,” Pence said, turning his fire on members of his own party, who unlike him, could potentially end up in the White House.

“Look, what happened in Ukraine was an unprovoked invasion by Russia. What happened this weekend was an unprovoked invasion by Hamas into Israel. And I really believe now more than ever, both the debate within the Republican Party and the debate within America is whether or not we’re going to once again stand without apology as the leader of the free world, as the arsenal of democracy,” he continued.

“The heartbreaking images coming out of both of these theaters of operations remind us that America is the indispensable leader of the free world, and if I’m president of the United States will lead from American strength,” Pence said.

Pence’s decision to blame the carnage on Trump likely pleased Democrats but he was blasted to smithereens on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

“You’re the embodiment of the kind of weakness that led to this. You should have paid attention when you were groveling at the feet of the master. Trump brought peace because the world knew — F around and find out! We’ll never return to the failed approach of you and your uniparty fools,” wrote Don Jr.

Other reactions to the ex-veep’s remarks.

“This is what happens when @POTUS projects weakness on the world stage, kowtows to the mullahs in Iran with a $6 Billion ransom, and leaders in the Republican Party signal American retreat as Leader of the Free World. Weakness arouses Evil,” Pence wrote on X on Saturday before he shanked Trump and the other candidates in the back on CNN.
