A 75-page court filing includes text messages and images alleging a history of violence by Carmelo Anthony, including assault, threats and firearms, before the murder of Austin Metcalf.
In June, Anthony was convicted of murdering 17-year-old Metcalf at an April 2025 track meet and sentenced to 35 years in prison. Appeal efforts and hopes to get a new trial have led to damning evidence going public, including pictures and video of the then-minor allegedly holding firearms, pointing one at someone’s home and making multiple threats to the lives of others.
Among the trove contained in the 75-page filing submitted by the prosecution to the Collin County Courthouse, an image obtained by Fox News Digital from the court’s records is said to depict a shirtless Anthony holding a handgun on Nov. 13, 2024, less than six months before Metcalf was fatally stabbed.

As was previously reported, text messages from Anthony to his then-girlfriend, Valeria Torres Perez, had prompted her to report him to a Centennial High School staff member the morning of the track meet. She said Anthony refused to let her end their relationship and had been driving by her house while a message read, “im lowk on the verge.”
Additional messages included in the filing featured him stating, “when I get mad i see red … when i get mad i blackout … when i get mad i cant control myslef …when i get mad my eyes change color.”
While Anthony seemingly went on to suggest he’d assaulted someone for allegedly threatening his cousin, he was also reported to have told Perez in May 2024 that he intended to shoot a woman before allegedly threatening her weeks later with the message, “how many bullets uu want coming out of ur chest.”
Days after that, another message read, “imma beat ur a**” and the filing further alleged he sent a message about threatening to cut someone’s brakes, shooting something and putting “gun to the head” of someone.
Video captured sometime around Jan. 4, 2025 was said to depict Anthony aiming a firearm at a home before leaving the scene and additional threats against Perez in March 2025 read, “imma f*cking murder u … yo friends go die … sho them ts.”
Anthony allegedly assaulted her on March 14, 2025 and less than two weeks later allegedly threatened her with a deadly weapon.
As to why these details about the convicted murderer’s background are only being made public now and weren’t part of the initial trial, the Daily Mail reported in August that, per court filings, a “gentleman’s agreement” had been struck between the defense and the prosecution restricting details about the past of both the victim and the perpetrator.
Given one message read, “When I stab somebody I’m gonna lick their blood off the blade,” the Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh previously reacted to the undisclosed texts, “I understand the alleged reason for it, but it is absolutely batsh*t insane that the prosecutors in the Karmelo Anthony case agreed not to tell the jury that Anthony was openly fantasizing about stabbing someone only hours before he killed Metcalf. This was premeditated murder. They had the evidence right there and never used it.”
