Trump has two new words for Kaitlan Collins: ‘Dumb’ and ‘unhappy’

President Donald Trump isn’t letting up on CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, taking issue with some remarks from a panel she hosted.

Collins headed up a “Countdown to Election Night” special for the network on Monday, covering the upcoming midterms. Republican strategist Doug Heye joined to offer his opinion on the state of the election, where he offered an unsavory take on Trump’s willingness to share his war chest.

“Donald wants to spend money on himself. He doesn’t want to give things away,” Heye suggested.

Following the airing, the president took to Truth Social to share his opinion on Collins and her coverage:

“Very dumb and unhappy Fake News CNN ‘reporter,’ Kaitlan Collins (really low ratings, also!), had a panel where discussions were all FICTION AND LIES. You would think that CNN, which is suffering terribly in the TV Ratings, would get rid of their 3rd rate ‘anchors,’ and try to bring credibility back to their once-storied network. It is fading FAST! See you all at the Republican National Convention tomorrow night!!!” he wrote Tuesday evening.

During the panel, other guests took shots at the president without any real pushback.

“Here’s the reality,” CNN Political Director David Chalian said. “The president can say anything he wants on this topic. Voters live and experience what the economy is every day in their lives. So, it actually is more noise than anything else, because people are going to vote based on what they’re experiencing in their pocketbooks.”

Speaking to Mediaite, a CNN spokesperson defended Collins from the president’s attacks.

“Kaitlan Collins is an exceptional journalist, reporting every day from the White House and the field with real depth and tenacity. She skillfully brings that reporting to the anchor chair and CNN platforms every day, which audiences around the world know they can trust,” they said.
