‘Pocahontas’ singing a different tune on Haiti

It was not so long ago that Democrats excoriated President Donald Trump for referring to Haiti as a “sh**hole country.”

But the Department of Homeland Security’s announced policy change that would send Haitian migrants in the U.S. illegally back to their home country has triggered leftists like Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who claimed they will face “imminent danger” if deported.

The Massachusetts Democrat raised the alarm about the “innocent people” who could be forced to return to Haiti under Trump’s new policy, which the DHS announced last week.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem explained in a press release that “conditions in Haiti no longer meet the TPS statutory requirements,” referring to Temporary Protected Status (TPS) protection given to citizens fleeing their country.

“This decision restores integrity in our immigration system and ensures that Temporary Protective Status is actually temporary,” a DHS spokesperson said in the press release. “The environmental situation in Haiti has improved enough that it is safe for Haitian citizens to return home. We encourage these individuals to take advantage of the Department’s resources in returning to Haiti, which can be arranged through the CBP Home app. Haitian nationals may pursue lawful status through other immigration benefit requests, if eligible.”

But Warren and other Democrats vehemently disagreed.

“The Trump Admin just decided to send thousands of innocent people who have been living and working here legally into imminent danger in Haiti,” Warren wrote on X.

“Trump will tear apart families, rip up communities, and leave businesses and nursing homes short handed,” she warned. “And no one will be safer.”

But the meltdown on the left prompted a reality check on social media, where X users took Warren and other Democrats on a trip down memory lane.
