An Ohio man charged with the murder of his three young sons was said to have not only admitted to the horrific executions but to have been planning it for months.
Late last week as 32-year-old Chad Doerman of Clermont County, Ohio was arraigned by a judge for the alleged aggravated murder of his 3-, 4- and 7-year-old sons, bodycam footage was released from his Thursday arrest. Initial reports made note of the suspect’s supposed confession to the crime only for court documents to later reveal just how long the calmly seated man had considered his actions.
WCPO reported that Friday’s allegations from the prosecution that Doerman had confessed to the murders were detailed in court documents stating he “confessed to planning and carrying out the deaths of victims involved for several months.”
Neighbor Richard Kincannon spoke with the outlet and described the behavior of the suspect as regularly enraged with his family. “He was angry every day. There wasn’t a day he didn’t yell at his wife and kids out there.”

However, in an interview with the New York Post, the alleged murderer’s father, 59-year-old Keith Doerman, told a different tale having visited his son the week before.
“He seemed fine. He was a jokester and a fun-loving guy,” the grieving grandfather who lives in Port Richey, Florida said over the phone.
As to what would have sparked such a dramatic and tragic change in Doerman, the man told the outlet, “There was something going on in his life that he couldn’t handle no more. I can’t talk to him, they aren’t letting me talk to him so I don’t have any answers. He probably hid a lot of stuff from me.”
Whatever happened, the suspect’s father added, “I could tell in his eyes he’s hollow inside. That wasn’t Chad standing at the arraignment, that was not him.”
As previously reported, police had responded to reports of the shooting around 4 p.m. Thursday and found Doerman seated calmly on the porch with a gun beside him. Along with the fatally wounded children, officers found their mother outside with a gunshot wound to her hand said to have occurred when she attempted to shield the victims from their father.

At the suspect’s arraignment where prosecutors sought a Clermont County record $20,000,000 bond, chief prosecutor David Gast detailed, “The trauma that this man has inflicted on his family, community, law enforcement, first responders, and all the rest of us is unspeakable. There has been a full admission in this case, the case is still new we’re still discovering facts. But the evil horror of what we know is impossible to process.”
“In an act of incomprehensible cruelty the father that stands before you lined up his three young boys and executed them in his own home with a rifle. In an act of desperation the mother at some point grabbed the gun the father was wielding to attempt to protect them,” he added and noted that when one of the children had fled, Doerman “hunted that boy down, brought him back to the property and executed him in front of witnesses.”
Kincannon said to WCPO, “I still see the babies…that’s all I see when I come out here,” and added he hopes Doerman “never sees daylight again.”
The suspect is due to return to court on June 26.
