Protesters and Muslims clash in Michigan after man slaps Quran with bacon, attempts to burn it

Christians and Muslims verbally duked it out during competing protests/rallies this Tuesday in Dearborn, Michigan.

Considered by some to be the Islamic capital of America, Dearborn hosts a huge Muslim population and has for years been accused of practicing Sharia law.

To counter this Muslim dominance, so-called “anti-Islam” protesters (also known as plain ol’ Christians) marched in Dearborn on Tuesday to make their voices heard.

One set of marchers/protesters was led by Republican gubernatorial candidate Anthony Hudson, a truck driver who planned Tuesday’s event to “expose Dearborn for what it is.”

According to The Detroit News, last month, Hudson vowed to deploy the National Guard to Dearborn if he wins the gubernatorial race so that they can “protect Americans from Sharia law.”

Another set of marchers was led by Jan. 6 rioter Jake Lang, who, according to MLive.com, tried to burn a Quran during the protest.

“Lang tried several times to ignite the book, holding it up with a lighter, but counter-protesters repeatedly knocked it from his hands,” MLive reported. “At one point, Lang stepped into the center of Michigan Avenue and tapped the Quran with a slab of bacon before a Muslim counter-protester snatched the book and ran off with it.”

FYI, it’s supposed to be legal to burn the Quran in the United States, just as it’s perfectly legal to burn the American flag.

Yet Democrats were incensed by Lang’s attempt to burn the Quran.

“Attempting to burn a religious document is an unacceptable act of hate,” Michigan Democratic Party Chair Curtis Hertel said in a statement. “Dearborn is a beloved, multicultural city with tens of thousands of people who are cherished friends, family members, and neighbors.”

Stunningly, Hudson, the Republican gubernatorial candidate, also took offense to Lang trying to burn the Quran:

Hudson’s apparent change in attitude came after he visited three mosques last week and subsequently earned praise from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a group that’s been dubbed a foreign terrorist organization by Texas.

“After visiting three mosques in the Dearborn area late last week, Hudson publicly stated at the Islamic Institute of America that there are many false and misleading narratives about Dearborn being spread and that all he found from Muslims there was hospitality,” CAIR reported in a press release.

“Hudson further stated that he was opposed to outsiders coming to Dearborn with plans to burn the Qur’an,” the press release continued.

Lang was reportedly disgusted by Hudson’s capitulation.

“Lang spray-painted the word ‘cuck’ on Hudson’s campaign bus in Dearborn, accusing the Republican candidate of ‘selling out’ for visiting mosques and expressing sympathy toward Muslims,” MLive notes.

It appears, for all intents and purposes, that Lang wants the Muslims out of Dearborn, whereas Hudson is seeking peaceful coexistence with them.

“We have to co-exist in this city and this state,” Hudson reportedly said. “It’s better if we do it in peace, rather than turmoil.”

After the march, Lang reportedly excoriated the Dearborn City Council to its face:
