Rand Paul reacts to Musk’s call to prosecute Tony Fauci in dig at gender pronouns

Twitter CEO Elon Musk put Dr. Anthony Fauci on notice Sunday and enraged leftists by appearing to call for criminal charges against him while poking fun at those obsessed with the use of gender pronouns.

My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci,” Musk tweeted Sunday morning. He took it a step further, taking a dig at Fauci and President Joe Biden by showing a meme of the retiring White House chief medical adviser whispering in the president’s ear with the caption, “JUST ONE MORE LOCKDOWN MY KING…”

Fauci, 81, has announced that he will be stepping down from his position in the Biden administration and as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the end of the year. It is probably not a coincidence that he is leaving just as Republicans are retaking control of the House of Representatives and are vowing to hold him accountable over the pandemic.

Fauci bills himself as the nation’s top infectious disease expert. He has been in the court of every president since Ronald Reagan and has had their ear. It was also noted that his daughter worked for Twitter until a year ago.

Republicans are accusing Fauci of lying about funding gain-of-function research on bat coronaviruses at a lab in Wuhan, China, where many suspect COVID originated from. Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky) is among the loudest voices calling for Fauci’s head in the matter.

Paul responded to Musk’s tweet by saying that even though Fauci is retiring, it does not disqualify him from being investigated or from being called to testify before Congress in any probe related to COVID.

“Fauci’s resignation should not prevent a full-throated investigation into the origins of the pandemic,” the Kentucky senator tweeted on Sunday. “He must be required to testify under oath regarding any discussions he participated in concerning the Wuhan lab leak. His policies destroyed lives.”

Fauci claims that the National Institutes of Health had funded research on bat coronaviruses, but had not genetically engineered the virus to be more transmissible to humans. There has been a massive amount of alleged evidence that the claim is not true.

Fauci stated adamantly in November that he would “absolutely” cooperate with any Congressional investigation into his handling of the pandemic. He asserts that his response to COVID was based on science, not politics according to the New York Post.

It has been Musk’s mission to restore free speech on Twitter since he took the helm at the platform. That includes allowing dissenting opinions on the pandemic. He has ended the banning of those who speak out against COVID on Twitter. Currently, accounts that were silenced because of it are being restored.

The “Twitter Files” are causing a political earthquake and Fauci appears to be on Musk’s to-do list. The files have shown how conservatives have been blacklisted and shadowbanned despite upper executives claiming that didn’t happen. Now, everything from the squelching of the Hunter Biden laptop from hell story to the banning of former President Trump is on the menu and it appears that Musk is hinting that Fauci will be exposed too.

Musk’s tweet also took a poke at the gender pronoun hysteria enveloping the left these days. He has previously tweeted “I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an esthetic nightmare” and “Pronouns suck.”

Musk has an 18-year-old transgender child and he took aim at the issue in October, blaming “neo-Marxists” at educational institutions for divisions such as that between him and his daughter.

Leftists were furious over the Fauci tweet but conservatives applauded it.

Former Central Intelligence Agency director John Brennan defended Dr. Fauci for all he was worth and viciously attacked Musk i a tweet, writing, “Dr. Fauci is a national hero who will be remembered for generations to come for his innate goodness & many contributions to public health. Despite your business success, you will be remembered most for fueling public hate & divisions. You may have money, but you have no class.”

A Democrat from the Bronx, Rep. Ritchie Torres, also slammed Musk, “Elon Musk wants to criminalize Anthony Fauci because he disagrees with him. Elon is no champion of free speech.”

“It’s America. You can select any pronouns you damn well please. But Anthony Fauci has likely saved more human lives than any living person in the world. Shame on you,” Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) also tweeted.
