Newly elected House Speaker Mike Johnson has begun to release tapes from the Jan. 6th riot nearly a year after Republicans retook the House, prompting celebration from Republicans and unadulterated rage from Democrats.
Recall that former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy had promised to do the same but ultimately reneged on that promise, leading to his eventual ouster.
Johnson, a Louisiana Republican, announced the release of the tapes in tweets posted Friday afternoon.
“When I ran for Speaker, I promised to make accessible to the American people the 44,000 hours of video from Capitol Hill security taken on January 6, 2021. Truth and transparency are critical,” he wrote.
“Today, we will begin immediately posting video on a public website and move as quickly as possible to add to the website nearly all of the footage, more than 40,000 hours. In the meantime, a public viewing room will ensure that every citizen can view every minute of the videos uncensored,” he added.
Today, I am keeping my promise to the American people and making all the January 6th tapes available to ALL Americans.

By Saturday morning, roughly 90 hours of video had been released. The footage may be accessed and viewed here.
As noted earlier, Republican voters were ultra pleased by the release of the tapes and couldn’t resist mocking Democrats and their allies over their unnecessary rage.

Eat it Liz Cheney!!!

This is actually a great disturbance in the Force. Millions of liberal “voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced”

Republican voters and congressional Republicans alike were also extremely thankful to Johnson for finally doing what McCarthy had promised to do but never did.
“You won’t always agree with @SpeakerJohnson – but know this: HE WON’T LIE. If he says he is going to do something, he is going to do it. Thank you for keeping your word on the J6 tapes, Mr. Speaker. It is a refreshing thing in the Swamp of DC,” Rep. Matt Gaetz, the Republican largely responsible for McCarthy’s ouster, tweeted.

Only those willfully ignorant or those shown to be liars and instigators will not want this released. Thank you!

This is one of the most important things you will do in your tenure, for the historical record. Thank you, please do not let us down.

Thank you Speaker Mike Johnson. The videos are eloquent and they reveal the true facts, no more propaganda and manipulation from the commies and the system.

Thank you, Speaker Johnson, for delivering on your pledge. Now it’s our turn to prove the Democrats have turned their political opponents into political prisoners.

Thanks also came from former President Donald Trump.
“Congratulations to Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson for having the Courage and Fortitude to release all of the J6 Tapes, which will explicitly reveal what really happened on January 6th!” he wrote on Truth Social.

The response from the left, meanwhile, was one of apoplectic rage.
“The level of uniform gaslighting, rewriting of history, and blanketing of social media we’re enduring currently from republicans and trump is unprecedented in the modern world. Mao would be impressed. They are manufacturing a fake reality built of pure propaganda and conspiracies,” left-wing writer Luke Zaleski tweeted.
Evidently, releasing unedited video footage of an event is a form of “gaslighting” and “manufacturing a fake reality.” Who knew?
Disgraced former Rep. Liz Cheney also got in on the rage by tweeting a single video (versus all the videos being released) of Jan. 6th rioters acting badly.
Look:
Here’s some January 6th video for you.

She was subsequently ratioed on X.
“40,000H of tapes and this is the best you could come up with. What a pity Lizy,” one critic tweeted.
“Panicking, Liz? Are you afraid that now people are going to see what happened BEFORE your cherry picked clips?” Brandon Straka, founder of the #WalkAway movement, added.

Apparently, the “insurrection” was so bad it included a pat on the back and a handshake from a Capital Police Officer while he gave directions. pic.twitter.com/bB6cKEd5YI

If January 6th was an insurrection, why were people allowed to leave like the Capitol was a movie theater?
Clearly confirms what we’ve said since January 6th:
The J6 tapes would have exonerated every person charged, and this is why these tapes weren’t released pic.twitter.com/v8JzIMuWJG— Eric Abbenante (@EricAbbenante) November 17, 2023
