Days before Title 42 is set to expire and throw the US-Mexico border wide open, the flood of illegal immigrants is already ramping up with drone footage capturing images of hundreds of migrants crossing over from Mexico into Brownsville, Texas.
The massive line of illegal immigrants was caught on video Sunday evening and reported on by Fox News reporter Bill Melugin. Most of the migrants appear to be single adults who don’t have baggage of any sort with them. Most are holding plastic bags allegedly containing important documents, according to the Daily Mail.
It is unknown exactly where the illegal immigrants originated from but during the last two weeks, there has been a massive surge of Venezuelan migrants crossing the border in South Texas, especially in and around Brownsville. It’s also not clear what prompted the surge although the expiration of Title 42 no doubt plays into it.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced on Friday that Mexico had agreed to continue taking back Venezuelans who enter the country illegally even after asylum restrictions end on Thursday. They will also accept Cubans, Haitians, and Nicaraguans.

En route back to the border today for what may be the most significant trip of the last two years. Illegal crossings are exploding at peak levels days before Title 42 drops, and an enormous amount of gotaways detected. Will be live on @FoxNews beginning tomorrow – see you then.

Title 42 has expelled over 2.8 million illegal immigrants since March 2020. It was implemented by then-President Trump and was originally put in place as a pandemic-era policy to assist law enforcement in quickly removing illegal immigrants at the border. It will expire on May 11 and the Daily Mail is reporting that there are at least 10,000 migrants waiting in Mexico to immediately cross the border once the policy is no longer in force.
President Biden is sending 1,500 troops to the southern border who will join the 2,500 already there. But their assignment is more administrative than preventative and is unlikely to slow the tsunami of illegal immigrants coming on Thursday.

Mayorkas is touting a plan that he claims will make it very difficult for illegal immigrants to seek asylum if they pass through another country on their way to the US border. Many do not buy that claim in the least.
“The situation at the border is a very serious one, a very challenging one, and a very difficult one,” Mayorkas disingenuously declared. “The border is not open, it has not been open, and it will not be open subsequent to May 11.”

Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council reported that illegal crossings have been around 7,200 a day, which is up from about 5,200 in March.
Woah!! Over 22,000 Border Patrol apprehensions in the last 72 hours, an average of over 7,000 per day, putting us right back into peak numbers we were seeing last year – as we are now 10 days away from the lifting of Title 42 and an expected major surge. Buckle up. https://t.co/rJPPeFZCqz

“We’re seeing a very significant flow (of migrants) in recent days on the basis of a hoax,” Mexican Foreign Affairs Secretary Marcelo Ebrard said at a news conference on Friday. He says smugglers are telling the migrants, “Hurry up to get to the United States by crossing Mexico because on May 11 they´re going to end Title 42.”
“It’s a trick and they’re at risk,” Ebrard lamely asserted.
Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador dishonestly insisted Mexico is not making special preparations for the end of Title 42 because he doesn’t expect a surge.
Mayorkas is blaming Republicans for not making it even easier for illegal immigrants to cross over. He’s bragging about new legal pathways which include parole for up to 30,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans a month who apply online with a financial sponsor.
“We have a plan, we are executing on that plan,” he proclaimed. “Fundamentally, however, we are working within a broken immigration system that for decades has been in dire need of reform.”
Texas rancher Stephanie Canales bluntly categorized the Biden administration’s treatment of the situation as “a joke.”

“You want to laugh, it’s a joke. And those of us that live down here every day that are dealing with this, it has not improved at all,” Canales told Fox Business in an interview. “It just continues to get worse. And I don’t care what lies they spew to the American people. They are lies because it’s only gotten worse every day.”
Her comments were made after White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre asserted that the Biden administration has made efforts to address the “broken” immigration system.

“When they drive through our property, that’s fence damage. So we’re constantly repairing fences, we’re constantly replacing gates that they will blow through on their vehicles when they’re being chased by law enforcement,” Canales said commenting on the fight against the illegal immigrant hordes that goes on every day.
She also slammed skyrocketing inflation under the Biden administration which has added to her family’s woes during all of this.
“We’ve also had to install cameras throughout our property… but the cameras allow us to see who’s on our property at any given time, so then we can alert the patrol. But it’s come at a huge cost to us and it’s very, very frustrating. And no, we don’t feel safe at all,” Canales bitterly remarked.
“God bless our troops, I’m sure they will be a big help to the Border Patrol and to our state troopers that are down here. But, where were they a long time ago? They need to shut the border because people are just coming over here. It’s nonstop,” she added.
“He keeps talking about ‘humanity’ and ‘being compassionate’ and ‘cutting out the cartel’ — and it’s just lip service,” Canales said, referring to Mayorkas.
The numbers are shocking when it comes to illegal immigration. In 2022 alone, almost 2.3 million migrants tried to sneak across the border according to US Customs and Border Protection. That is up from 1.7 million in 2021.
Border towns such as El Paso, Texas have declared an emergency ahead of Title 42 ending.
