Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, a Democrat, is facing mockery for trotting out a group of alleged “Republican moms” to defend him.
According to Talarico, these “Republican moms” all voted for the GOP for most of their lives but are now suddenly voting for him, the same guy who’s glommed onto almost every radical leftist position humanly possible.

The three “Republican” women were featured in a video Talarico shared to the social media website X on Monday.
“I like him,” one of the three mothers seen in the video said. “He was a middle school teacher in a public school in Texas, and they started cutting all his funding and he said, ‘Well, if I can’t change my school, then I’m gonna need to change my state.’ And that’s so becoming of a leader. I want a middle school teacher who’s like, hey, this is broken. Somebody needs to fix it. Why not me?”
Another mom took a shot at the GOP.
“I think Republicans are having a lot of moments like that where we’re saying this is not what I signed up for,” she said. “Give me somebody who’s not extremist. I don’t care what party they are. I’m going to vote for whoever is the most common sense and who I think would be the most likely to protect my kids.”

Finishing off the discussion, the first mother added that “you’re never going to vote for a candidate that thinks exactly like you.”
“You need to get on the bus that’s driving closest to where you want to end up,” she continued. “Talarico, I find him to be pretty moderate, and I think that is telling of what’s happening in the state of Texas. The Republicans should be worried.”
Critics were amused by the claim from these alleged “Republican moms” that Talarico is in any way, shape, or form “moderate”:

As a mom and grandma in Texas, I do not know ANYONE who thinks talarico is a moderate. He is fringe left. And Left leans communist. And that’s a No in Texas.

Despite Talarico’s radicalism, he admittedly continues to overperform. Indeed, a Fox News poll released just this week found him leading Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton 51 percent to 48 percent.
The poll “shows him winning 68 percent of independents, 98 percent of Democrats, and about a quarter of non-MAGA Republicans,” according to The Daily Beast.
“Talarico is the preferred choice among white evangelical Christians, white men without a college degree, rural voters, regular worship attenders, men, and voters ages 65 and older,” the outlet reported.

Talarico is reportedly also popular with black voters, Hispanics, women, and those under 30.
