Ricky Gervais responds to first-ever Golden Globes win after his historic take-down of Hollywood

The man behind what may go down in the annals of history as the greatest beatdown of Hollywood elites ever has scored again and he didn’t have to show up to do it.

Comedian Ricky Gervais was awarded the first-ever Golden Globe for best stand-up comedy on television on Sunday night to the chagrin of those in attendance, many of whom took the brunt of his 2020 beat down.

“This is the first time stand-up comedians have been acknowledged at a major awards show. For 80 years, good-looking people threw a party, and now you’ve finally decided to invite the talented people,” comedian Jim Gaffigan said in presenting the award.

Caution: Adult language

Gervais won the award for his special, “Armageddon,” but Gaffigan accepted on his behalf because he did not bother to attend the festivities.

If that wasn’t sweet enough, consider the who’s who list of liberal “talent” Gervais beat out — other nominees for the award included Amy Schumer, Sarah Silverman, Chris Rock, Trevor Noah, and Wanda Sykes.

The award is the fourth Golden Globe Gervais has taken home. In 2003 he won for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy for “The Office” and in 2006 for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy for “Extras.”

Here’s a quick sampling of some of the delicious responses to the story, as seen on X:
