The widow of late Fox News CEO Roger Ailes is no fan of the conservative news network since her late husband ran the show and pointed to what she believes is the major reason behind what many feel is a steep decline from its glory days.
Beth Ailes joined former Fox News commentator Eric Bolling on Tuesday’s edition of “The Balance” on Newsmax TV where she discussed the legacy of her spouse who passed away at the age of 77 after suffering a fall at his home. Ailes had been forced out at Fox amid allegations of sexual harassment by several women at the network prior to his death.

Mrs. Ailes has been a fierce critic of Rupert Murdoch and his son Lachlan Murdoch whom she suggested don’t have a true understanding of America because they aren’t from here. And she believes that “the decline of Fox” comes down to “three or perhaps four Ts,” which she described as ousted former host Tucker Carlson, trust, talent and former president and current 2024 GOP frontrunner Donald J. Trump.
“I believe Rupert, the major Murdoch, and Lachlan, the minor Murdoch, do not understand America the way Roger did because they weren’t born here,” she said of the father and son team. “They don’t have the love of country, in my opinion, that only comes from being born here.”
Rupert Keith Murdoch was born in Australia and Lachlan Murdoch was born in London.
“I think that a lot of the audience has left and that’s because there’s no more Eric Bolling, there is no more Bill O’Reilly, there’s no Greta. Where is everybody?” Mrs. Ailes added. “They’re on Newsmax. They have other places to go.”
“There are other ways to get the news and frankly I think that Fox, like the other mainstream news channels, are boring. They repeat the same thing every hour,” she said of the post-Ailes version of the network which is a shadow of its former self.
Ailes also zinged the Murdochs earlier this year in a post to Twitter/X to commemorate her late husband’s birthday.
“Happy Heavenly Birthday Roger Ailes. It took you 20 years to build Fox News into the powerhouse that it was and only 6 years for the Murdochs to wreak havoc. Rupert thought he could do your job. What a joke. He has the checkbook but could never come close to your genius. RIP,” she wrote.

Despite whatever personal failings he may have had, there will never be another Roger Ailes and he left a legacy behind that few will ever be able to match, so great was his influence on the news industry over a career that spanned decades. More than anyone else, he was responsible for building Fox News which was at its apex under his leadership.
