Ron Johnson: Intel letter on Hunter’s laptop worse than ‘anything China or Russia’ could do

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), former head of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, claims that President Joe Biden’s alleged underhanded campaign trick of calling reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop Russian disinformation is far worse than anything Russia or China could have done to interfere in the 2020 election.

“Actually, they knew the Hunter Biden laptop was real. The FBI knew that. They had possession of it in December 2019,” Johnson said Sunday on the “Cats Roundtable” show.

Despite knowing what damage it could cause, the Biden campaign reportedly convinced 51 former intelligence officials into signing a letter just weeks before the presidential election in order to discredit the laptop story that the New York Post broke, according to Johnson.

Since then, former CIA Director Mike Morell has admitted under oath in front of the House Judiciary Committee that he orchestrated the letter after speaking with members of President Biden’s campaign, including current Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

“They wrote a letter to interfere in our election to a far greater extent than anything China or Russia ever could hope to do — claiming that the laptop had all the earmarks of … a Russian information campaign,” Johnson told John Catsimatidis on the WABC 77 AM radio show. “That letter was an information campaign. It had far greater impact on our election than anything any foreign adversary could ever undertake. … This isn’t suspect anymore. This is fact!”

“Now we know it’s Mike Morell doing the work of Antony Blinken, who is on the Biden campaign,” Johnson continued. “And then, of course [Biden] used that lie in his debate against Donald Trump a few days later. It’s sick!”

Saturday, on Fox News, host Brian Kilmeade asked Johnson, “Mike Morell took his oath and said I was the CIA guy. I rounded up the 51 Intel experts to sign off and say the Hunter Biden laptop was classic Russian disinformation. I was asked to do it by Antony Blinken. So they were behind it. Almost none of those people read it from Leon Panetta or watched it from Leon Panetta on down. And the implication was catastrophic for the sanctity of this election. This surprised you, why?”

I thought it was probably Clapper or Brennan,” Johnson asserted. “It really didn’t surprise me that it was Morell, I just didn’t know who it was. I knew it was obviously a setup. Remember, the FBI knew that the Hunter Biden laptop was real. They had it in their possession since December 2019. They went and they pre-sabotaged just in case Mr. Mac Isaac would ever have the courage to make that public.”

That letter was brandished by Biden during the final presidential debate against former President Trump. He falsely charged that the reporting done by the New York Post was the result of a “Russian plant.” Later, the media outlet would be vindicated as its reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop was widely corroborated even on the left.

“There are 50 former national intelligence folks who said that what he’s accusing me of is a Russian plant,” Biden proclaimed at the time. “Five former heads of the CIA, both parties, say what he’s saying is a bunch of garbage. Nobody believes it except [Trump’s] good friend Rudy Giuliani.”

Johnson is hopeful that Biden and his cohorts will face a reckoning over the dirty political trick which resulted in the story being censored on social media and contributed to Biden winning the election.

“The truth is slowly starting to be pried out,” he noted. “Bit by bit. Piece by piece. It’s the truth that we’ve all known about. We maybe don’t have the specifics, but now we know [the origins] of the letter from the 51 intelligence officials who covered up the Hunter Biden laptop.”
