In what proves to be a bombshell development, Fox News announced abruptly on Monday that the network was parting ways with popular prime-time host Tucker Carlson, effective immediately.
“FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways,” Fox News said in a statement. “We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”
Carlson’s last program was Friday and he gave no indication in handing off to host Sean Hannity that anything was afoot. In fact, he told viewers, “We’ll be back on Monday, see you then.”
FOX NEWS MEDIA AND TUCKER CARLSON PART WAYS
NEW YORK — April 24, 2023 — FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.
Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday April 21st. Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named.
Carlson delivered the keynote address at The Heritage Foundation’s 50th-anniversary gala on Friday night and spoke about the battle for America being one between good and evil.
“What you’re watching is not a political movement,” Carlson said of the politics on the left. “It’s evil.”
Carlson’s now-former Fox News colleagues seemed to be surprised in reporting the news on air Monday:

As for what’s next, the rumors and offers are already flying.
Tucker Carlson is the best of the best and consistently put in extra time to cultivate new talent on the Right. He's always downplayed the possibility of running for president, but that's an open possibility now. If he stays in media, I'm excited to see what he does next.

A lot of people are asking if @TuckerCarlson is coming to @realDailyWire.
I suspect Tucker already has a plan, but we'd break out the big novelty checkbook for him if he doesn't. pic.twitter.com/VW09QFgPOW

Twitter erupted on Monday as word broke that Carlson and the network were suddenly and unexpectedly parting ways, causing a number of social media denizens to brand the conservative media outlet the new “Bud Light.”

Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Joel Pollack is reading the tea leaves, “.@FoxNews without voices like @TuckerCarlson means that the network will not play as big a role in the 2024 Republican presidential primary as it has in the past, and the base will be less easily managed to suit the DC-NYC establishment. The era of controlled opposition is over.”

Journalist Greg Price recounted Carlson’s last moments on Fox, “This was Tucker Carlson Tonight’s last moment. Eating pizza with the hero delivery man who stopped a car jacker. I can’t think of a better way for the greatest cable news show in history to end.”

Then there were those on the left rejoicing in the fact that Tucker Carlson is no more at Fox News – no one is surprised that it is the “ladies” of “The View” leading that charge.
Investigative reporter Drew Hernandez captured a clip from “The View” and it was as horrific and hateful as you would expect, “INSANE: The FEMBOTS on The View are crediting God for Tucker leaving Fox News, the audience cheers.”

According to the DC Enquirer, Fox News’ stock just tanked as well.
People were already not watching CNN/MSNBC. Millions will stop watching FOX now & it'll be as irrelevent as its compatriots in the extreme center media landscape.
It's the final nail in the coffin of legacy networks. Wonderful news for alternative counter-establishment media. https://t.co/pBGJwOUdOo

A good measure of character & humility in a public figure is the time they're willing to spend to help those "without status." I've encountered some who only associate as long as it benefits their brand or project.
