Ron Johnson predicts how Russia-Ukraine war must end: ‘We’re not gonna like the result’

Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) believes there is only one way the war between Russia and Ukraine can end, and predicts, “We’re not gonna like the result.”

Johnson joined radio talk show host John Catsimatidis Sunday on “The Cats Roundtable” and stated that, though he has “nothing but contempt” for Russian President Vladimir Putin, the man “is not going to lose this war.”

Considering Russia’s nuclear weapons, the senator said the war is “not a fair fight.”

“The only way this war ends is in a negotiated settlement,” Johnson told Catsimatidis. “Every day that goes by while this war continues, more Ukrainians die, citizens and soldiers, more Russian conscripts die.”

“I take no joy in that,” he said. “More of Ukraine gets destroyed. So, the sooner that they reach a negotiated settlement, the better from my standpoint.”

According to Statista, ” The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) verified a total of 9,614 civilian deaths during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as of September, 2023. Furthermore, 17,535 people were reported to have been injured. However, OHCHR specified that the real numbers could be higher.”

“This war has to end,” Johnson said. “We’re not gonna like the result, but every day that goes by, we’re gonna like the result less.”

“From January 24, 2022, to May 31, 2023, the United States provided around 71 billion euros [$77 billion] in bilateral financial, humanitarian, and military aid to Ukraine in view of the Russian invasion that started in February 2022,” Statista reports.

“As of May 31, 2023, the value of U.S. bilateral aid commitments to Ukraine represented 0.33 percent of donor GDP,” the figures reveal. “The U.S. donated the largest amount of bilateral humanitarian and military aid and the second largest amount of financial aid to Ukraine.”

Senator Johnson wants to make sure at least some of American taxpayers’ money stays at home to fund the southern border.

His response to Biden’s request for international aid in Ukraine and Israel is, “You don’t get a dollar for Ukraine until you actually pass immigration reform.”

“I’m trying to make sure that the Republicans in the Senate will deny cloture on any bill to provide funding for Ukraine that doesn’t have benchmarks that the administration has to meet before the funding flows,” the Wisconsin senator stated.

As BizPac Review reported in late October, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) is in favor of sending money to Ukraine and Israel, but not without some key strings attached.

“We can’t allow Vladimir Putin to prevail in Ukraine, because I don’t believe it would stop there, and it would probably encourage and empower China to perhaps make a move on Taiwan,” he told Fox News’s Sean Hannity at the time. “We have these concerns. We’re not going to abandon them.”

“But we have a responsibility, a stewardship responsibility over the precious treasure of American people,” the speaker said, “and we have to make sure that the White House is providing the people with some accountability for the dollars, and we want to know what the objective there is.”

“What is the endgame in Ukraine?” he asked. “The White House has not provided that.”
