Ron Johnson reveals how the ‘corrupt’ FBI set him up, liberal debate audience LAUGHS at him

A good indication that the crowd attending the Senate debate in Wisconsin was stacked in favor of the Democratic opponent could be gleaned from their reaction to incumbent Sen. Ron Johnson claiming the FBI set him up.

His opponent, Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, took a page from the Orange Man Bad playbook and suggested in the second of two televised debates in the race that Johnson was a “Russian asset.”

While the accusation served as a good distraction from the important issues of the day, such as another hot inflation report out Thursday showing consumer prices rose 0.4% in September and were up 8.2% from a year ago, along with worker wages taking a hit, Johnson did confirm last year to The Washington Post that he received a briefing from the FBI “warning me that I was a target of Russian disinformation.”

After pledging support to continue funding the war in Ukraine, even as fears of nuclear Armageddon (President Biden’s words) grow, Barnes tried to use that admission against the Republican.

“There was also an instance where Senator Johnson had to be sat down by the FBI and warned that he may be a Russian asset,” Barnes said. “We cannot trust Senator Johnson to protect democracy abroad because we can’t even trust Senator Johnson to protest democracy here at home.”

Johnson countered, to the apparent amusement of the audience, “In response to the wild charge of Lieutenant Gov. Barnes, the FBI set me up with a corrupt – with a corrupt – briefing and then leaked that to smear me.”

The senator went on to state that the FBI has corruption in its ranks, which he is “trying to uncover and expose.”

And while Democrats may scoff at the notion, few Republicans would join them after watching the shenanigans from the bureau over the past few years, be it their scandalous behavior in furthering the Russian collusion hoax or a growing pattern of early morning raids on top political opponents of Biden and the Democrats. Raids that now include pro-life activists being subjected to dozens of armed FBI agents descending on their homes.

With the FBI tarnishing its image substantially and losing the trust of millions on the right, it’s a huge tell that Democrats have become their biggest fans.

As for Barnes, he is trailing in the race and Politico reported that his campaign “has privately reached out to Barack Obama’s team” to get the former president to campaign on his behalf — speaking of tells, the political news outlet noted that “other proposals” being discussed by Wisconsin Democrats include “bringing in President Joe Biden.”
