Sad. AOC, ‘Tampon Tim’ play Madden on Twitch while voters act like grown-ups

With Kamala Harris struggling with young male voters, Team Kamalot had the brilliant idea of having vice presidential nominee Tim Walz pair up with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and live-stream themselves playing Madden football online while discussing next week’s election.

“This type of stream will capture attention and boost visibility to reach more viewers – especially among young men, who make up 70% of Twitch’s active users,” the Harris campaign said, apparently comfortable with exploiting the Bronx bartender’s presumed sexuality to appeal to young men.

Never mind that the event would be competing against real NFL football. On that note, AOC repped the Buffalo Bills while Walz selected his home state’s Minnesota Vikings.

“Hey, everyone, what’s up?” Ocasio-Cortez said in a clip shared on social media to drum up interest. “We are about to go live with Tim Walz playing Madden in about an hour. We’ll be talking about a lot of other things, but hop on our Twitch stream to check it out.”

Somewhat comically, Walz responded to AOC in a not-so-carefully worded message to say, “Can’t wait. Looking forward to playing with you.”

The campaign gimmick also competed with former President Donald Trump’s improbable rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City — the Republican nominee would fill MSG to the rafters in a star-studded event.

Speaking of that rally, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made a joke about Puerto Rico being “a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean” during a set at the event, which the dishonest media pounced on to smear the Trump campaign.

Ocasio-Cortez and Walz paused their sad competition to seize the opportunity to paint Hinchcliffe — and by association, Trump — as a racist, but the comedian didn’t back down.

“These people have no sense of humor. Wild that a vice presidential candidate would take time out of his ‘busy schedule’ to analyze a joke taken out of context to make it seem racist,” he wrote. “I love Puerto Rico and vacation there. I made fun of everyone…watch the whole set. I’m a comedian Tim…might be time to change your tampon.”

Trump campaign senior adviser Danielle Alvarez responded to the hoopla by saying, “This joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign.”
