House Intelligence Committee chair Adam Schiff has indicated that he doesn’t care that a suspected Supreme Court clerk violated the court’s norms and leaked a potential Roe v. Wade decision that isn’t slated to be formally announced til the summer.
In a tweet posted early Wednesday evening, the high-ranking Democrat lawmaker explained that all he cares about is that the high court may be poised to issue a ruling — the reversal of Roe v. Wade — that he personally disagrees with.
Because of this potential decision, he added, he believes Congressional Democrats should violate more norms by packing the Supreme Court with left-wing justices.
“I don’t care how the draft leaked. That’s a sideshow. What I care about is that a small number of conservative justices, who lied about their plans to the Senate, intend to deprive millions of women of reproductive care. Codifying Roe isn’t enough. We must expand the court,” the lawmaker wrote.

I understand the impulse for despair.
But it’s not too late to protect the right to choose.
Congress must codify protections for abortion rights. We must abolish the filibuster to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act. Now.
People elected us to lead, not lament. Let’s do it.

The tweet was posted two days after a yet-unidentified operative within the court leaked a draft decision on a case that the court’s currently reviewing. Because it’s a draft, the final decision may very well wind up being different, not that this seems to matter.
The leak has produced a torrent of after-effects, including nationwide protests (some riots too), in addition to the leaking of the justices’ home addresses. By indicating he doesn’t care about the leak, Schiff has therefore also suggested that he doesn’t care about this aftermath.
The responses to the lawmaker’s tweets have been divided. Half or so of the respondents have been left-wingers who agree with him. The other responses have been from conservatives outraged by his indifference.
Look at the latter below:
Of course you don’t. You have the ethics and integrity of a python wrapped around a child. What you care about are the 30% of Americans who don’t want any restrictions on abortion. Yes, Sotomayor is a beacon of truth. Add this to the countless numbers of lies you’ve spewed.

You don’t care?! Wow. Your whole corrupt administration from Biden down will be gone and Americans will send a loud message in 2022 and 2024. You have ruined the integrity of our nation for six yrs. Creating lies from Russian collision to the Jan 6 environment. We see every move.

This is exactly the problem with our elected representatives today. They don’t care about the constitution or our laws. For many of them, “the ends justify the means”, and they will get the results they want by “any means necessary”.

Schiff doesn’t care when Democrats break laws, period.
And his intentions violate the spirit of the Constitution.
He is not a compatriot, he is the enemy within, with a ghoulish indifference for innocent human life.

We know you don’t care about the leak, only about packing the court to further your shitty authoritarian leftist agenda. You are an #enemyoftherepublic 🖕

You don’t care about a leak!

Critics say Schiff appears to believe in the Communist motto “by any means.” And indeed, Schiff has a history that seems to fit.
Recall when, during then-President Donald Trump’s impeachment hearings in 2019, he manufactured a fake conversation between Trump and then-Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, all in a bid to boost his team’s impeachment efforts.
Recall also how he doctored several Jan. 6th text messages last year so that he could use the messages to issue subpoenas.
Critics like conservative commentator Ben Shapiro have been quick to contrast this indifference to norms with the Democrats’ incessant complaining during Trump’s presidency that he was violating America’s norms.
They care so deeply about democratic norms https://t.co/xo3M5gfEU2

Has there been a single major Democrat who has condemned the leak of the SCOTUS decision? One?
— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) May 4, 2022
The Democratic “NORMS ARE BEING DESTROYED” crowd is utterly full of s***.
— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) May 4, 2022
By democratic norms, the Left just means “whatever we want.”
— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) May 3, 2022
“By democratic norms, the Left just means ‘whatever we want,’” Shapiro argues in the tweets above.
It does admittedly fit a broader pattern within the Democrat Party: The party supported the violent BLM riots of 2020, went ballistic over the one-day Jan. 6th riot of 2021, condemned the anti-vaccine mandate riots of 2021 and 2021, and is now supporting the protests (some of them riots) against the conservative-leaning Supreme Court.
It seems as if the entire party lives by the motto “by any means,” even when those means are unethical and hypocritical …
