In what serves as a perfect encapsulation of politics in America today, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer presented unfounded, politically motivated opinion as fact in a letter he sent to Fox News that ultimately targets Tucker Carlson, the left’s greatest nemesis these days.
Capitalizing on the unhinged rantings of a disturbed 18-year-old gunman who opened fire at a Buffalo, N.Y., supermarket, killing 10 people, Schumer sent a letter to Fox Corporation chairman Rupert Murdoch, his son and Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch, Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott, and Fox News Media President Jay Wallace, urging them to stop amplifying the Great Replacement conspiracy theory.
“I implore you to immediately cease all dissemination of false white nationalist, far-right conspiracy theories on your network,” Schumer pontificated, after cherry-picking the contents of a rambling, often contradicting 180 page so-called manifesto of a mentally disturbed teen to shamelessly score political points.
“Proponents of this white nationalist, far-right conspiracy theory believe that a complicit or cooperative class of elites are advancing a plot designed to undermine the political power and culture of white Americans,” he continued. “For years, these types of beliefs have existed at the fringes of American life. However, this pernicious theory, which has no basis in fact, has been injected into the mainstream thanks in large part to a dangerous level of amplification by your network and its anchors.”
Naturally, Fox News’ alleged competitor CNN was quick to share the letter, as seen here in a tweet from chief media correspondent Brian Stelter:

The Democrat leader proceeded to name Tucker Carlson by name, “A recent New York Times analysis found that Carlson has referenced variations of the ‘replacement’ idea in more than 400 episodes since 2016.”
“I urge you to take into consideration the very real impacts of the dangerous rhetoric being broadcast on your network on a nightly basis,” Schumer added, after saying Fox News viewers were more likely to believe that the left is endeavoring to alter voter demographics in America — though he did not frame it in this manner.
As for cherry-picking, the Democratic leader did just that in essentially faulting Fox News for other tragedies that have occurred, ignoring any number that do not fit the prescribed narrative, such as when six people were killed last year during the Waukesha Christmas parade.
“These incidents alone, to say nothing of the many more which have occurred in recent years, have led to dozens of lives being lost and countless others irreversibly impacted. The devastation and despair that families and communities feel in the wake of these incidents cannot be overstated,” Schumer said. “For instance, my constituents in east Buffalo who will be forced to relive this tragic event every single time they visit the supermarket for a loaf of bread or a gallon of milk. It is on their behalf, and on behalf of the residents of communities in Pittsburgh, El Paso, and cities around the country who bear the consequences of this hateful ideology that I write you.”
Fox News spokesperson Caley Cronin accused President Biden and Democrats of using the killings as an excuse to disparage people they don’t agree with, Bloomberg News reported.
Carlson said on his show Monday night that the document posted by the suspect in Buffalo is “the essence of racism and it is immoral.” He called the suspect’s words “crazy” and “not recognizably left-wing or right-wing,” further stating that it was a “rambling pastiche of slogan and Internet meme.”
The Fox News host has charged that the Biden administration is intentionally trying “to change the racial mix of the country” through the manipulation of immigration — how else do you explain the wink and nod from the administration with nearly a quarter of a million illegal immigrants crossing into the U.S. each and every month now.
“In political terms, this policy is called ‘the great replacement,’ the replacement of legacy Americans with more obedient people from far-away countries,” Carlson exclaimed. “They brag about it all the time, but if you dare to say it’s happening they will scream at you with maximum hysteria.”
And scream they are. With the media having their backs, Democrats boldly exploit the deaths of 10 people in a desperate attempt to gain any momentum ahead of the midterms.
