Scientific study finds that masks made ‘little to no difference’ in fight against COVID

A major scientific review has dealt yet another blow to the so-called “experts” with its findings that the controversial idea that face masks were an essential tool in combatting the spread of COVID during the pandemic wasn’t based in reality despite the insistence of the CDC and top government officials like Dr. Anthony S. Fauci.

Following its initially saying that the masks weren’t necessary, the CDC suddenly flip-flopped in April 2020, calling for all Americans including those as young as 2 years old to submit to the masking, and in September of that year Dr. Robert Redfield, who was then head of the Centers for Disease and Control Prevention said during Senate testimony that “face masks are the most important powerful health tool we have,” suggesting that they are even more effective than vaccines.

While the nation’s sprawling health bureaucracy, the Biden administration and Democrats were the biggest proponents of forced masking even though they themselves sent mixed messages on the effectiveness of the stifling face diapers that were symbolic of a new authoritarianism, the conclusions of the scientific study led by a dozen researchers from renowned universities around the world could contribute to debunking the myth with all but the most hardened of dead-enders.

According to the results of 78 randomized controlled trials published by the esteemed Cochrane Library on whether “physical interventions” including masking slowed down or stopped the spread, the effectiveness of the masks may have been negligible.

Researchers found, “Wearing masks in the community probably makes little or no difference to the outcome of laboratory‐confirmed influenza/SARS‐CoV‐2 compared to not wearing masks (RR 1.01, 95% CI 0.72 to 1.42; 6 trials, 13,919 participants; moderate‐certainty evidence). Harms were rarely measured and poorly reported (very low‐certainty evidence).”

“There is uncertainty about the effects of face masks. The low to moderate certainty of evidence means our confidence in the effect estimate is limited, and that the true effect may be different from the observed estimate of the effect. The pooled results of RCTs did not show a clear reduction in respiratory viral infection with the use of medical/surgical masks. There were no clear differences between the use of medical/surgical masks compared with N95/P2 respirators in healthcare workers when used in routine care to reduce respiratory viral infection,” the comprehensive study concludes.

In addition, “Hand hygiene is likely to modestly reduce the burden of respiratory illness, and although this effect was also present when ILI and laboratory‐confirmed influenza were analysed separately, it was not found to be a significant difference for the latter two outcomes. Harms associated with physical interventions were under‐investigated.”

While the study offers some vindication to those who have suggested that the authoritarian mask mandates imposed by Democratic Party politicians and enforced by their media mouthpieces and armies of “Karen” shock troops were rooted more in a political agenda than a legitimate public health crisis, there are those who will bitterly cling to the humiliating face coverings regardless of the “science” when it conflicts with their worldview.

Even though President Joe Biden has pronounced that the pandemic is over and New York state and cities have moved to end the mandates, pockets of resistance continue to exist in the deep blue Big Apple where many venues are still rigidly enforcing the wearing of the facial burkas.

According to its website, the off-Broadway Atlantic Theatre Company still requires masking even if Broadway itself ended its mask mandate last summer.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater also still requires masks. “For the safety of everyone in the building, all dancers, students, faculty, musicians and staff are always required to wear a mask in class and in public spaces,” reads its website.

Some venues like the Manhattan Theatre Club and the Public Theater have effectively split the baby with special performances for masked audiences only with the remainder having the individual choice to mask up or not.

The New York Post reports, “At Community Bookstore, which has two outposts in Brooklyn, masks are mandatory to browse for books, an employee confirmed, noting that some employees and customers are immunocompromised.”

“While the industry certainly anticipates a time when we can all go maskless, we are in favor of anything that makes the valued theatergoer feel comfortable attending a show, and — in this day-and-age — wearing a mask makes a solid portion of the audience feel more comfortable,” a theater veteran told the Post.

Late-night television host and Democrat propagandist Stephen Colbert recently touted the fact that the audience for his NYC-based show still dutifully wears their masks which have become badges of honor, symbolic of party unity.

Colbert also requires that the audience at the Ed Sullivan Theater “be fully vaccinated and provide in-person verification of vaccination,” per its website.

“When New York County is in a medium or high community risk level, according to the CDC, masks covering your nose and mouth are required at all times in the theater,” the policy states.

With masks and mandates being a rabidly partisan issue with Democrats it’s hard to imagine hardened leftists who are mentally dug in ever trusting the science no matter how many studies conclude that forced masking was a major mistake.
