Nothing kills the mood at an abortion event like some “extremist” dropping the “G” word.
Vice President Kamala Harris stopped in Savannah, Georgia, on Tuesday as part of her “Fight for Reproductive Freedoms” tour, when a protestor interrupted her intentional mischaracterization of the Supreme Court’s ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which returned the right to legislate abortion to the states, where the Constitution makes clear it belongs.

“Nineteen months ago,” the vice president claimed, “the highest court in our land — the court of Thurgood and RBG — took a constitutional right that had been recognized from the people of America, from the women of America.”
Except, of course, the Constitution does not name abortion as a right, which is why it, like everything else not specifically mentioned in the founding document, is up to the states to govern.
But that was lost on the audience, which dutifully booed the Supreme Court’s decision.
“In states across our nation, extremists have proposed and passed laws that criminalize doctors and punish women,” Harris continued. “Laws that threaten doctors and nurses with prison time, including right here in Georgia, even for life — in some states, prison for life — simply for providing healthcare. Laws that in some states make no exception even for rape and incest.”
Like Pavlov’s little pups, the audience booed again.
“Now, I know it’s a difficult conversation to have, but we need to face reality. Right?” Harris said. “As many of us know, and many of you may know —”
And that’s when things started to go off the rails.
Someone in the crowd said something inaudible, and the group booed yet again. Then a protestor called Harris out for her euphemistic description of “healthcare.”
“Shame on you!” the pro-life activist shouted at the vice president. “You’re committing genocide! You’re committing genocide!”
With that, the crowd began chanting, “Kamala! Kamala! Kamala!”
Harris gushed with gratitude for the audience’s support.
“Thank you. Thank you. Thank you all. Thank you. Thank you all,” she told her admirers before attempting to pull a page from former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy’s handbook and defend the person’s right to protest.
“And we know, in a healthy democracy, we value the freedom of all people to be heard,” she reminded the audience.
Ramaswamy, however, would have handed his mic to the protestor and invited her to speak her mind, but that’s not how Harris rolls.
“[R]ight now, we are talking about a different issue, and that is the issue of what has happened to the women and people of America as a result of the Dobbs decision,” she said as the person was escorted out. “So, as I was saying…”
Harris went on to sugarcoat the act of dismembering a child in utero, assuring the audience that “One does not have to abandon their faith or deeply held beliefs to agree the government should not be telling her what to do with her body.”
“If she chooses, she will consult with her pastor, her priest, her rabbi, her imam,” Harris said. “But it should not be the government telling her what to do.”
