Fox News has not only become the leader of cable news since the 2024 election, it has absolutely blown its competitors out of the water.
Conservative coverage and favorable views of President-elect Donald Trump mark a departure from standard media practices, and it appears Americans like that. Following the November 5 election where Trump trounced Vice President Kamala Harris, Fox News aired every single one of the top 500 most-watched cable news shows. The only show to even get close was CNN’s Election Day America which placed 507th.
However, the winning didn’t stop in November, as Fox also scored the top 400 cable telecasts in December, with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow netting herself the 401st spot.
Of the Fox News Channel programs to make the list, it was clear that viewers have a preference for The Five, a round-table show featuring political commentary from Fox personalities like the hilarious Greg Gutfeld and the always-on-point Judge Jeanine Pirro.

Other big winners are Jesse Watters Primetime and America’s Newsroom.Â
Fox News Channel has been the top-rated cable news outlet over the last couple of decades, taking the title nearly every month, but Trump’s second electoral win resulted in a domination like never before. While it’s unclear if they will maintain this momentum moving forward, it’s obvious that other outlets like CNN and MSNBC will have to rethink their coverage strategy moving forward.
Americans voted overwhelmingly for Trump in 2024, seeing him win not just the Electoral College but the popular vote as well, so it should come as no surprise that outlets that bash Trump regularly on their programs would see a decrease in viewership. Additionally, defeated Harris supporters may be opting to tune out of mainstream media coverage entirely, choosing instead to support smaller news organizations that cater more to their worldview.
It’s also worth noting that Trump hasn’t always been the biggest fan of Fox News over the years, often speaking out against unfair coverage he received from some of the network’s hosts. It remains to be seen if they will be able to maintain their position on the top throughout the duration of his presidency.
