Suspended GMA host files for divorce following revelation of public affair with married co-host

“Good Morning America” co-host T.J. Holmes has reportedly filed for divorce from his wife, Marilee Fiebig, after 12 years of marriage.

This matters only because it comes just a few short weeks after the Daily Mail reported that Holmes was having an affair with his married co-host, Amy Robach.

“Their on-screen chemistry is undeniable, and in the two years since T.J. Holmes joined Amy Robach on Good Morning America’s lunchtime segment GMA3, the co-hosts have been open about their blossoming friendship,” the tabloid outlet reported.

“[F]or the past six months, the married co-hosts have been sharing much more than a mutual love of running and the great-outdoors. In fact, they have been locked in a passionate romance despite both being married to their respective spouses for the past 12 years,” its reporting continued.

After news of the affair broke, both Holmes and Robach were “indefinitely” pulled off the air.

News of the divorce likewise comes only days after Holmes and Robach were spotted publicly flirting at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

“Smiling and chatting co-hosts and lovers TJ Holmes and Amy Robach touched down at the airport in Atlanta on Monday morning, ready to spend an intimate New Year’s together. Seen in … exclusive pictures … the couple, whose careers hang in the balance since their affair was outed last month, were affectionate and at ease as they deboarded a morning flight from New York,” the Daily Mail reported.

“The couple appeared glad to have left New York City behind as they relaxed in each other’s company this morning. Dressed casually, at one point Holmes, 45, put a protective arm around Robach, 49, as they navigated their way through the busy Atlanta terminal,” as reported by the Daily Mail.

They were also spotted last week dining together at a restaurant reportedly near Holmes’ Manhattan apartment.

“[J]ust days before Christmas, they seemed unable to keep away from each other as they enjoyed a low key lunch at the Capitale Grill near Holmes’s apartment in the Financial District. Robach had a salad and glass of white wine while Holmes enjoyed a steak and a glass of red before, seemingly buoyed by the wine and conversation, the loved up pair made the short walk back to his apartment,” according to the Daily Mail.

“The giddiness of their earlier liaisons, whether flirting in midtown bars or holding hands in the back of taxis, was lacking as they walked side-by-side but not touching. But it was a different story as they emerged from the restaurant smiling and tucked into each other,” the Daily Mail reported.

Regarding Robach’s husband, Andrew Shue, what’s known is that after word of the affair broke, he scrubbed his Instagram account of all photos of his wife. Similarly, one of the couple’s kids, Nate, posted a photo of the entire family, sans Robach:

As for their professional lives, Holmes and Robach remained off the air as of late December.

“I understand that the continuing coverage [of the affair] can be distracting from the incredibly important work our team does here at ABC News… Amy and T.J. will remain off-air pending the completion of an internal review, and there will be a rotation of anchors at GMA3 for the time being,” ABC president Kim Godwin announced in a memo recently, according to Hello! magazine.

“It is my hope that we continue to focus our energy on what we continue to do best, and I want all of you to know how immensely proud I am of your hard work and professionalism,” she added.

It’s unclear at this point whether Holmes and Robach will ever return to the air.

Holmes for his part is no stranger to such controversies. Indeed, a source confirmed to U.S. Weekly that this is the SECOND cheating scandal he’s been involved with. He allegedly previously cheated with “Good Morning America” producer Natasha Singh.

“According to the insider, Holmes, 45, has had ‘inappropriate moments’ with several of his ABC coworkers. His affair with Singh, 30, took place before his romance with GMA3 coanchor Amy Robach — which the former NBC correspondent, 49, knew was going on at the time,” U.S. Weekly reported around the start of the month.

It’s notable that Holmes reportedly filed for divorce — not his wife — given the source’s claim that she’d helped him hide his first affair.

Plus, Holmes has spoken previously about how his wife has stuck beside him despite his “best efforts.”

“That’s not hyperbole. I’m not being dramatic. I gave her plenty of reasons, excuses, and opportunities to walk her fine ass out the doooooooor. But instead, with her built-in black woman superpower, she showed a grace and patience that’s incomprehensible,” he reportedly wrote in a 2020 Facebook post.

But apparently, he’s unwilling to stick by her side …
