As X users continue to reel — some with giddy delight, others in abject horror — over Elon Musk’s reinstatement of Alex Jones’s social media account, Musk and Jones had a perfectly sane discussion about “the whole Sandy Hook thing” during a Spaces livestream.
More than 60,000 listeners tuned into the space, hosted by Mario Nawfal, and Musk promptly addressed the controversial elephant in the virtual room.
“One of the questions I really have to just get out of the way and I and you’re probably talking about this already before is the whole Sandy Hook thing,” Musk said. “So what exactly did you say and what is wrong with that situation?”
“If somebody starts denying that, murders of children, that’s not cool at all,” he told Jones. So, what exactly did you say, and what’s going on with that situation?”

Jones thanked Musk for allowing him “back in the public square” before explaining, “I had a very small operation and did not even understand how powerful I was.”
“And so when that event — let’s call it ‘the school shooting,’ which I do believe happened — happened 11 years ago, the Internet exploded and it was the top story for off and on for years, with all these professors and former school safety people and all of them saying they believed it was a drill,” Jones explained, “and I simply covered them covering that.”
Jones went on to say that he “got bigger” years later, after Trump was elected and he was de-platformed.
“It made me bigger,” he said. “And so suddenly, I would wake up and there would be sometimes 100 articles or more a day, every major news channel saying that I was currently saying nobody died, currently sending people to their houses, currently peeing on graves.”
“I didn’t even know these people’s names,” he said. “I only said one of their names ever. And I believe their children died. And I understand all that.”
“Imagine,” he continued, “I was not de-platformed — no mention of the school shooting in Connecticut for, like, six, seven years. Then they go back to my timeline — and it turns out it was a big New York PR firm, Democratic Party — they dredge it up, they run hundreds of articles, sometimes a day, but a week, for over a year. Suddenly it becomes a big story again.”
After he was slapped with a billion-dollar judgment, Jones said the PR firm, which he promised to post on his account after they were through talking, “bragged” that they had “quarterbacked destroying Alex Jones.”
Jones went on to note that he has apologized hundreds of times.
“There’s over 100 apologies that I’ve given,” he said. “In fact, probably 500 to every show I go on. They asked us, I apologized on Joe Rogan’s show five years ago. I apologize on Patrick Bet-David’s show five years ago. I mean, these are prominent ones.”
“I apologize on every show,” Jones said. “And I’ll say it again, I apologize that I just gave my commentary because I’m really just a guy…talk radio host. So I do that on the Internet. I just take calls and interview guests and that I play devil’s advocate. And if that hurt people’s feelings, I apologize.”
“But I did not send people to your houses,” he insisted. “I did not pee on graves. I don’t know any of the stuff that went on.”
“Well look at that. Two people sitting down and talking without bursting a blood vessel or screaming obscenities,” one user on X said in response to the discussion. “Take notes liberals.”

But liberals’ heads were too busy exploding for notes to be taken.
“I hope everyone remembers that Elon Musk is letting a man who owes $1.1 BILLION to Sandy Hook parents, even after trying to weasel out of it through bankruptcy, for his lies back on social media,” whined one. “Seems like Elon may be taking on the debt of Alex Jones.
“X is about to be filled with a lot more hate.”
