Taylor Swift searches shut down on X after graphic AI-generated images circulate

Searches for Taylor Swift were temporarily disabled on social media after graphic fake images of the world’s most famous Kansas City Chiefs fan were circulated.

In an extraordinary move, the X platform shut down all searches for the pop music superstar who is also the highly visible girlfriend of Chiefs All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce after the proliferation of the AI-generated “deep fake” pictures, some that featured sexually suggestive themes featuring the NFL team.

“Posts aren’t loading right now,” said a message that was still coming up early Sunday morning on searches for Swift’s name. “Try again later.”

“This is a temporary action and done with an abundance of caution as we prioritize safety on this issue,” X head of business operations Joe Benarroch said on Saturday, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The bogus Swift images drew outrage when they began popping up with one example being the faux singer splayed on the floor in the nude and painted red and in a sexually suggested stripper pose with tongue hanging out and the words “F*K ME” on her chest at the feed of Chiefs football players,  reported the conservative outlet Breitbart News in a story in which it showed the lewd image.

The images sparked an angry response from the singer’s fans with one “Swiftie” asking “How is this not considered sexual assault??” on X, while another said “When i saw the taylor swift AI pictures, i couldn’t believe my eyes. Those AI pictures are disgusting,” the New York Post reported.

Even the White House got in on the outrage action.

“The circulation of false images of Taylor Swift are alarming. We know that incidences like this disproportionately impact women and girls. @POTUS is committed to ensuring we reduce the risk of fake AI images through executive action. The work to find real solutions will continue,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said, suggesting that President Joe Biden could soon get involved in what smacks of a perfect excuse for more government-backed online censorship.

“Our teams are actively removing all identified images and taking appropriate actions against the accounts responsible for posting them,” X said in a statement. “We’re closely monitoring the situation to ensure that any further violations are immediately addressed, and the content is removed.”

Swift has been absolutely EVERYWHERE in recent months and NFL fans have bristled over the league’s obsessive coverage of the mega-star who is in attendance at nationally televised Chiefs games where her love chunk “Mr. Pfizer” does this thing as quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ top target as the team drives toward another Super Bowl, an event that will be saturated with Swift if Kansas City is in the game.

The Baltimore Ravens will have one final chance to bring an end to the suffering of fans when they face the Chiefs in Sunday’s AFC Championship game on Sunday afternoon with the winner advancing to next month’s title game in Las Vegas.
