Texas Senate candidate James Talarico has changed his stance on capitalism, and the DSA voters aren’t going to like this.
At an event with billionaire Mark Cuban, Talarico announced that the pair had teamed up to take on “Big Medicine monopolies” in an effort to reform healthcare. He also said that he appreciates Cuban’s fight for “old school capitalism,” which is a far cry from his previous thoughts on the subject. Andrew Kaczynski even reported that the candidate’s campaign told CNN that his past views on the issue “missed the mark” and were “cringey.”
Look:
Talarico campaign tells CNN his “cringey,” past comments “missed the mark,” and he’s a capitalist who supports oil and gas.

“Talarico campaign tells CNN his ‘cringey,’ past comments ‘missed the mark,’ and he’s a capitalist who supports oil and gas,” he wrote.
But what exactly were those comments?
Well, X users dug up some of his previous statements on capitalism and it sounds like something ripped straight out of the DSA playbook:
NEW: In a 2020 Zoom forum with climate activists, James Talarico spoke of “dismantling” capitalism, grouping it with White supremacy and climate change.
In the same forum, he compared Texas’ oil industry to “cassette tapes,” saying it’s “not gonna last.”https://t.co/z7SDj0pBAg— Andrew Kaczynski (@KFILE) September 1, 2026

No wonder he’s trying to distance himself from his previous insanity; that definitely would be disqualifying in Texas.

He’s also made some bizarre comments about “whiteness,” which he has also tried to walk back, saying the attacks on him are “out of context”:
Talarico once tweeted that white Americans spread a racism virus.
He tried to walk that one back, like he does with everything else.
Talarico’s core campaign message is basically “don’t believe anything I’ve ever said up until about five minutes ago.”pic.twitter.com/U59sRd0pv4 https://t.co/W83fci1xMa

X users had a lot to say:
Unfortunately, Progressive Left/Marxist ideology harms rather than helps. People who desire places of power must seek to speak and act for the good of others, not spew destructive rhetoric that has zero grounding in what’s true.

How is white people spread a virus being taken out of context, sounds pretty straight forward to me.

He said so many absolutely disgusting and insane things that it’s unbelievable that this race is even competitive.

Texans are so fucking dumb they don’t even watch the video and just assume that dumbass dishonest piece of shits like Brandon are telling the truth. Welcome to Texas. This is why education in Texas sucks. They want more dumbasses so Republicans can stay in power.

Texans: You REALLY need to be paying attention to what this guy has said in the past and what he’s saying now.
