‘That’s political jiu-jitsu’: Jeffrey Epstein announces donation to Jasmine Crockett

Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s (D) shoddy attempt to wrongfully slam Republicans for nonexistent ties to Jeffrey Epstein led the man in the crosshairs to execute some “political jiu-jitsu.”

In one of the more shameless displays of partisan hackery on Capitol Hill, a rising star of the Democratic Party had attempted to redirect actual ties between a peer and the late convicted sex offender with a whataboutism alleging similar associations on the right. After the facts showed her team’s attempted gotcha had singled out the wrong Jeffrey Epstein, that man joined Fox News’s Sean Hannity to reveal a gotcha of his own via a donation to her campaign.

Friday, Long Island neurosurgeon Dr. Jeffrey Epstein appeared on “Hannity,” where he discussed the “week of disaster” he’d had after Crockett had named his donations to the likes of former New York congressman, onetime gubernatorial candidate and current Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin as though he were the financier.

During the segment where he’d expressed his frustration that he could not sue the congresswoman for her insinuation because the law protects all statements made by members of Congress from the floor of the House and Senate, Epstein explained the way he’d turn Crockett’s word game against her and detailed, “Let the record show that, if you look in the filings, you’ll also see that Jasmine Crockett took money from Jeffrey Epstein.”

As had been reported, Crockett had insinuated that Zeldin, as well as former NRCC, WinRed, the 2008 McCain-Palin presidential ticket and others, had taken money “from somebody named Jeffrey Epstein” in defense of Del. Stacey Plaskett (D-Virgin Islands) who faced a failed censure vote for her own ties to the financier that had included a text message exchange during a congressional hearing.

After getting called out for her assertions that were received as allegations of an illicit connection between the political figures and organizations, the Texas lawmaker had attempted to defend herself saying, “I never said that it was that Jeffrey Epstein,” and argued “at least I wasn’t trying to mislead people” after a cursory FEC search had turned back enough details with which to make accusations.

Meghan McCain, the daughter of late Arizona Sen. John McCain (R), had been among those calling out the congresswoman when she posted on X, “My Dad has been dead 7 years [Crockett]. He never met Jeffrey Epstein, let alone took money from him. The Jeffrey Epstein you are referencing is an entirely different human being. Do you have mashed potatoes for brains, you absolute joke?!”

Before the interview had ended, Sean Hannity, who seemingly missed that Epstein had already made the point, went on to ask his guest, “Did you donate to Jasmine Crockett? I read you might.”

“I did. I donated to Jasmine Crockett,” said the neurosurgeon as the lawmaker’s name could now be included among those who’d taken money from someone who was not “that Jeffrey Epstein,” as she was accused of behaving as though she were playing “one big game.”

After a laugh, Hannity asserted, while reaction on social media celebrated the trolling, “Alright, that’s political jiu-jitsu. Good play. Doctor, thank you and keep up the great work you’re doing every day.”
