President Donald Trump reportedly placed a statue of Founding Father Thomas Jefferson in the White House Rose Garden, and somehow that’s controversial.
AÂ Washington Post piece on the new addition frames it as Trump trying to “remake” the White House. Other articles, such as one from New York Magazine, offered the headline “Trump Adds Founding Father Statues to Rose Garden Clutter,” proving that anything related to the president is automatically considered bad.

While it would make sense for a statue of Jefferson to be added, joining the likenesses of George Washington, Alexander Hamilton and Benjamin Franklin, apparently the move is controversial to those in the media.
X users had a lot to say about the reports:
I love that you described the placement of a statue of the author of the Declaration of Independence and one of the most influential Founding Fathers as “remaking” The White House and Washington. That’s perfectly on brand for your former newspaper.

And?
And before the smooth brains jump in, I don’t care that he was a slave owner.
History is not perfect, all men have flaws, but what Jefferson did outside of his flaws allow you to post nonsense from a country that won’t put you in prison for it.
Enjoy the ether.
