A “very dumb” former adviser made the case that the outcome of the midterm elections was laying the foundation for the “worst two years of Donald Trump’s life.”

Even if Democrats hadn’t gone beyond telegraphing to openly promoting their intention to further obstruct President Donald Trump’s administration, their behavior during and after his first term suggested it was all but a foregone conclusion. Now, amidst his own troubles with the Justice Department, onetime National Security Advisor John Bolton argued “notorious” evidence against the First Family and Trump’s inner circle supported “unrelenting pressure” from the left.
Appearing on “The Trump Report,” Bolton, who had his security clearance revoked within hours of the president’s return to the White House, spoke at length about Iran and regime change before host Maddie Hale confronted him with a question on whether the ongoing conflict would effectively lose the election and control of Congress for the GOP.
“Look,” he responded matter-of-factly, “it’s gonna be the worst two years even if the Democrats just flip the House, which I think most people think is certain. The Senate is unclear at this point, but the Democrats have a shot at it, and it’s gonna be unrelenting pressure by the Democrats against all aspects of Trump’s presidency.”
Moving the conversation forward, the host stated the obvious that House Democrats would “almost certainly launch a wave of investigations and hearings,” to which Bolton responded, “I do think that they will try across the board. Every committee in the House within its area of jurisdiction will be holding hearings.”
“You can see that coming,” the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations added. “I think the one issue that isn’t sort of inside the Beltway politics, the one issue that will cut through to Americans is corruption. I think everybody understands that. I think the evidence is open and notorious of what Trump and his family and others in the administration have done.”
The perspective came days after The New York Times ran the “educated guesses” of election analysts who steered clear of touting big wins for the left in November.
While Bolton talked of trouble for the president, he himself was awaiting sentencing scheduled for October 2026 after having pled guilty to violating the Espionage Act by willfully retaining national defense information, sending “classified information to family members who were unauthorized to access such information, including a personal email account that was later hacked by a cyber actor allegedly linked to the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
On top of a $2.25 million fine, the former adviser could face five years in prison.
Reacting to the guilty plea, the president took to Truth Social and posted, “John Bolton, a very dumb, unbalanced, and unskilled former representative of the United States of America, just pleads guilty!”
“He is a terrible person, a lunatic who only wanted to start trouble and wars, and who was a needless pusher of death and destruction wherever he went,” said Trump. “Hopefully, he will be dealt with harshly!”
