Tim Tebow combats horrors of child trafficking: ‘We can be the good people who don’t look away’

Tim Tebow has launched a new campaign called “unKNOWN” to combat the horrors of child trafficking and sexual exploitation, calling them “two of the greatest evils we face today.”

Unabashed Christian, former football star, and baseball prospect Tim Tebow has championed these unnamed and hidden children for years.

I believe that human trafficking and child sexual exploitation are two of the greatest evils we face today,” Tebow posted to Twitter on Sunday. “On this World Day Against Trafficking, we are launching unKNOWN. Children around the world are suffering from horrific sexual abuse, many from the very people who are meant to protect them.”

“For my 36th birthday, it is my hope and prayer we can come together to identify and protect as many children as possible,” he wrote while promoting his charity foundation and noting his upcoming birthday on Aug. 14.

He then shared a shorter version of the video his foundation put out with a warning that discretion is advised.

“As you read this, and in every minute that goes by, 156 images and videos of children being sexually abused, raped and even enduring sadistic torture are being traded, distributed, and shared across the world through the darkest parts of the internet for self-gratification,” Tebow emotionally stated.

“This is called CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material), and it is an evil that has been hiding in the darkness of our communities, our homes, and the internet for too long and it’s past time we exposed it to the light,” he continued.

The lengthy thread is blunt concerning the horrors these children experience.

“Today on World Day Against Trafficking, child trafficking will get a lot of attention, and we need to do everything we can to stop it and protect our children. I believe every person on this earth is created in the image of God – uniquely, beautifully, and perfectly. Their value is priceless, and they are not for sale! @tebowfoundation has been in this fight for more than 10 years, and Lord willing, we will do what we can to get to as many lives as we can,” he added.

…But what most people don’t know is that the majority of victims are trafficked down the hallway, in their own homes,” Tebow warned.

Tebow goes into detail about CSAM. It’s hard to confront but it has to be done as the exploitation of children spirals out of control in the US and across the globe.

Tebow asserts that we have to put our faith in God and actively fight to save these children.

“It’s hard to not be overwhelmed by the horror that so many boys and girls are experiencing every day. Sometimes it’ll make you feel like, ‘how could we possibly take the next step, there is just so much evil, so much pain, and so much anguish,'” he tweeted.

“But then you remember what a big God we serve and how He loves every single one of these lives more than we ever will. Even in the darkest moments, the heartbreaking stories, we place our hope in Jesus to lead us to one more life, and one more life. Hope also comes from the stories of redemption like this one from a beloved member of our survivor family, as she writes…” Tebow said, referring to one child who was rescued by his foundation.

“Back when I was in my home, my mom would always [tell] told me that I am nothing, I am worthless and I am ugly. But God sent people to love me and to give me the love that my family wasn’t able to give to me. When I came here to Compassionate Hope and Tim Tebow Foundation, they treated me like their own child and I found my safe place here,” the child recounted.

Let’s keep going, let’s get to many precious children as we can! Thank you for your support and prayers,” Tebow urged.

Fox News reported, “Tebow said his foundation has been engaged in this fight for a decade already, the last three years very publicly. The group said it is ‘blessed to be a part of 20 safe homes around the world with 22 in progress. Through our partners and teams, we have been able to help rescue more than 1,000 victims.'”

The foundation is seeking to raise $1 million for the cause this year.

“His goal is to raise $1 million this year so TTF and its partners — ‘this is a major effort of many amazing groups and people,’ he said — can help free others from places of pain and horror and get them the help and care they need to be restored,” Fox News reported.

There is “power,” Tebow declared, “when people come together” to do good works.
